hi, my first post here.

i recently bought a 2008 audi a5 and i'm interested in changing the steering wheel among other things.

i found one that i like and according to the limited information available it seems to be a good fit.
Peripheral Output device White Motor vehicle Plant

according to the description of the seller this is from an A3 ... does it fit my car ? also mine is an automatic and this has paddle shifters so would they work or not ?

thank you

Really no answer ? anyone ? bump ?
I have a 2009 A5 B8 model and the airbag look different. Even the later B8.5 round airbag looks different.

This wont be plug and play. B8 owners normally upgrage to the B8.5 flat wheel and they are very much in demand therefore cost £400+

I believe the pictured wheel will work as that MFSW is consistent with the B8 (canbus, not linbus). Your old airbag won't fit, but it looks like that wheel includes the airbag. You can cross reference the clock spring part numbers and harness pinouts to be positive. Note that I'm assuming you're starting from a 3-spoke wheel that already has the the mfsw. The paddles will work after vagcom/obd11 recoding (many threads on the subject), I just added paddles to my existing wheel and they work great

i have decided that i wont be taking this one, a shop sells the b8.5 ones at around 450 euro including airbag so once i'm 100% sure i want to spend the money on a new steering wheel, i will go to them.

although they said that it might not work but i've seen enough youtube vids that say it works perfectly fine.

Ask the seller.
It's a minefield.
I got mine from an a7.
And found that the early a7 uses dual stage.
Mine was plug and play.

Here's the actual wheel I bought.
It's the first one with a round airbag.
Will see if I can find the airbag part no.

According to this comment on youtube my audi has a single stage airbag
Font Darkness Terrestrial plant Circle Electric blue

the video:

my concern is that i’m probably going to buy it from a car graveyard (this is how we call them) and the guys that are going to sell it won’t know if its single stage or double stage

The B8.5 is not direct swap on B8. I have seen a few Youtube clips and it involved playing with the wires.
I normally upgrade the steering wheel and gear knob on a car as these 2 items you use most. But after the research i gave up.
On my last 2010 BMW I got a M-Sport steering wheel for £65 and it was same airbag. Audi seems lot more complex and expensive.

I haven’t found a video on youtube that plays with wires , most of them are a straight swap plug and play and the buttons work fine. The concern is about the airbag

There's a huge thread on this site about upgrading from shield to round airbag.
I'm pretty sure it's dual stage but it was four years ago so I could be wrong.
Personally I would ring whoever sells the complete steering wheel kit and ask.
It's an expensive upgrade and most won't refund airbags.
