Hi all,
We are replacing the engine on a 2010 S5 4.2 Liter V8, manual transmission vehicle with a used engine verified from a 2009 S5 4.2 Liter V8, manual transmission. Everything seemed to be going well until we just realized the intake manifolds are different. It appears the cylinder heads are slightly different so we cannot install the 2010 S5 intake manifold on the 2009 S5 engine. The angles of of the intake manifold bolt holes on both sides are different as well as a different mounting bolt hole on the left side will not allow us to do this. The dealer and salvage yard show the engine, heads and intake to be the same but the heads and intake in this situation are not. Has anyone come across this and know the best way out of this? The 2009 S5 engine is already in the vehicle, just no intake manifold on it. Any tips on this issue would be appreciated. Thank you.
