I'm a bit confused, I thought that AMI/MMI had ipod interface built in so what is the point of this. I'm interested in a unit somewhat like this that works with a car that doesn't have the AMI/MMI because I ordered my S5 with Nav/Tech package but with the B&O Stereo and I would like to hook up a Ipod to the system

The Audi Media Interface (AMI) is a factory fit option that is only available with the SatNav system - it is an add-on to the MMI. It can be retro-fitted but is expensive and the parts are hard to get hold of - at least here in the UK.

The Gateway 500 is an Audi approved after market interface system that integrates well with the MMI and gives full functionality via the MMI and steering wheel controls. It costs about £370 fitted here in the UK.
