Guys,

Vw will not sell the new model Scirocco because the dollar is so low and they can't make money off of it. I don't blame them. I think we will see Euro car makers chaging their tune on u.s. sales over the next few years as we continue to spend what we don't have. If I was them I would raise prices according to the vaule of the dollar.

Why can't we acknowledge we are a declining imperial power and need to adjust how we do things. If we don't the dollar is going to fall. It's insane.

Before anyone jumps me i'm an Iraqi war vet and am tired of this imperial u.s. power.

Mcain, hillary, and Obama will continue the staus quoe. Spend, spend, spend.
Are they blind?

The fed will continue to print worthless money, just the the Weimar german republic in the 1930's. sigh.

I don't know what to say about the Scirocco - I can't decide if I like it or not, so I don't have a strong opinion on that issue.

On the topic of the US dollar, my (outsider's) opinion is that you are correct. No other country could get away with continually running the budget deficits that the US has been, without being really punished by financial markets. I think the scariest thing is how much US Cash China has stockpiled - I read recently that it is over $1 trillion. To me that suggests that the financial fate of the US could some day be in China's hands, if it isn't already.

As I say, this is my outsider's opinion, I'm not trying to pick any fights, just express my thoughts.

Make your order attractive to Audi AG

Interesting, I read a story about this today in the Financial Times

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/eb7df8b4-eb1f-11dc-a5f4-0000779fd2ac.html?nclick_check=1

Out of a dozen orders that my dealer sold in October only mine plus another guys got picked up by Audi to manufacture. I figured Audi AG chose our orders because of custom options which they made almost pure profit on;

- I switched out the S5 aluminium trim for the A5 Valvona wood - $500
- I opted for an A5 colour (misano red) - a $2500 option.

Both of these options cost Audi AG nothing, simple parts substitution, but I really think that the $3000 extra was enough for them to pick my order instead of others.

So.... maybe this is the way to get an S5 is by making the order "attractive" to Audi AG, in light of the Dollar weakness against the Euro

Just a thought.....

Euro producers will have to start to treat the u.s. market as they do others. Adjusting for a weaker currency. They can't coddle the u.s. consumer anymore by just sucking up the difference. Also by moving some of their plants here as well.

If whomever is elected doesn't address the weak dollar in the first year our A5/S5's will rise in price by 10-20%. Which they won't. sigh.

If the prices do rise significantly for the A5/S5's in the US then surely it could help the resale on your cars ;)

From where i'm coming from (UK) i love going to the US with the current exchange rate :D

There will be tough times ahead for us all on either side of the pond over the coming year or so. At least you don't pay $2.30 per litre of diesel and your cars are nearly half the price of ours.

Personally i would like to see Obama win as i think he could bring some fresh new ideas.

All the best
Steve

He is a socialist just like hillary or even mcain. They may come from the left or right they still spend money we don't have. He may make an effort to get out of Iraq but I doubt it.

If our Federal goverment would stop spending and reverse the trend the dollar would begin to rise back up. The housing market bubble will fix itself over time.

We would be ok then. But as I said it's a pipe dream for the feds to give up power by stopping tax and spend.
