Dead battery? Parking brake?

my battery died on my a5 some months back and i couldnt get anything working or moved

In these cases the E-M-P-B would become more of a hinderance that a benefit. I can see the reasoning behind it; parked on a hill, battery goes weak and eventually dies, parking brake doesnt get automatically released hence to no catastrophe. But still... must be a way around it!!

your car on the electronic parking brake lets just say for 3 weeks withough touching it or anything lets just say u left to another country and left your car on the electronic parking brake for 3 weeks when you come back will your battery be dead?

No of course not. Im hyperthetically saying what 'if'? Say 5 years down the line when batteries tend to come to the end of thier lives what would happen then?

There should be an override handle somewhere. Most likely in the engine bay. Can't say i've really thought about it.

But for an audi dealership to say it's "classified information", the person on the other side of the phone has obviously been watching too many james bond movies.

They've got a duty to tell us how, as we could be stuck in an emergency situation where the car needs to be moved.

I'd even go as far as to complain about the dealership just for telling you that rubbish. Idiots.

The worst of it is, if the information is needed by someone planning to steal the car, you can bet your bottom dollar (or euro) that the theives already know this.

Of course if the battery is flat, your advanced key is stuffed too, so you have to break the window to get to the handbrake that doesn't work.

I bet the 'secret' answer is to jack the car up and take a hacksaw to the springs used to pressurise the brake system. And there's special tool no. 300010227.4 (read junior hacksaw) required to do this.

I'm such a fan of that EMPB!

Battery in Audi cars tend to be very good. My A4 is 7 years old now and still has the original battery. Had it checked by the garage at the last MOT and they said it was still running at near full capacity.

One dealer told me to go to ERWIN manuals online and buy the workshop manuals or something. Doesn't really help the matter if you were stuck out in the sticks somewhere.
Im going to find out somehow!!
