soz, it was the laptops spell check. I was ment to say if your in gear 3 and you should be in gear 4 it will display as; ' 3 ---> 4 ' It would be on a 1.8 tfsi

It does have the arrow, but I surely wouldn't accept the recommended shift points unless you want to tool around town at 1200 rpms in 6th gear.

Checked today. In 5th at about 1900 rpms driving around town (somewhere in the 40's mph) the "recommendation" was to shift into 6th. Not only would this be low on the power band if I had to accelerate all of a sudden, but it is also harder to keep the speed down. I mean just a little bit of extra gas could produce red and blue lights in my rear view mirror.
