I was expecting delivery of my new A5 this week but got a call from the dealer to say they had discovered a small (2 cms) cut in the leather of the passenger seat back.
They are calling a specialist in today but I suspect they are looking at a repair. I expect a new car to be in perfect condition, does anyone have experience of this problem and if I agree to a repair will this be as good as new?

If not what should I insist on?

Thanks

If you can see the repair its not as good as new and you should push for a new seat cover. That said smart repairs are pretty good these days and you don't want them messing with the seat unless absolutely necessary.

The only thing I'd add to what Blade has said is that the repair needs to be fully documented in the cars history so that if the repair fails or becomes visible you can get it dealt with or a new seat cover automatically.

Having said that, I'm a salesman, so I never have just one thing to say!!! ...perhaps if you 'reluctantly' (play act here!) agree to the repair on the basis that you get the first two services free, you can turn it into a positive!

Dont' just think 'outside the box' ask yourself; "What box?" ;)
