crazy average mpg on trip computer

1612 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  savs
Just bought a 2017 S5 and cant work out how to stop it telling me my avg fuel consumption is 6.9mpg!

I have reset several times on short and long term memory (same mpg for both after reset and some driving)

Any ideas guys?

Jerry PLEASE show us a pic of the S5 instead of yer mug thanks!!! My advice is to ignore that stupid fuel consumption thing and just run a full tank, press the trip and then work it out over several hundred miles. The consumption calculation is rubbish until you have alot of miles on it so if you reset, it just starts again from scratch!!

  • Put some black tape over read out?
  • Stop driving with a lead right foot?
  • Change reading to anything other than avg fuel?

Only joking!!! As Simon says, set trip computer and do a bit of mileage to get a better figure. Avg mpg consumption is done over miles so if you're short journeys then i think the avg mpg will look very low - e.g only a 10 mile trip may show avg mpg as low, but a 300 mile journey will read a lot higher avg mpg. (i may be wrong though?)

Do a full tank run and see what trip says. Then post back and keep us updated.

Nice car too!
