Concert B&O vs Multimedia B&O

Im looking to buy a 2013 Audi A5 with Bang and Oulfsen. I've seen a few with the 'concert' system and others with the 'multimedia' system.
I know the multimedia unit is better with increased functions (like satnav). I'm planning to get android auto so I can cope without satnav.

Does the sound quality differ from a Concert system with B&O and the Multimedia system with B&O?

Thanks.

@emmett49 -- The primary difference will be how audio signals are sent to the external amplifier from the source. The Concert/Symphony radios supply analog line-level outputs to the B&O amplifier, while the MMI3G system sends digital audio to the amplifier on the optical MOST bus. To my ears, the difference is negligible, but if it's important to you, you should compare them in-person. --g

I put a 12.3" after market screen from Aliexpress in my b8. I really rate it for android auto, it might be worth you checking them out. Mine was from Nunoo Factory Store. Hope you find the ideal car!
My base unit was the MMI 2G High with B&O. After the addition of the new screen, it still sounds awesome IMO!
The MMI High does use fibre optics for sound as previuosly mentioned.

I would always go for the MMI as those cars have the MOST network installed. Retrofitting a MOST network if you ever want to upgrade to MMI is a nightmare job that requires the whole interior to come out and cutting & soldering your wire loom.

Whats the 12.3" screen like? Is it a quick processor? Decent pixel quality etc? Any images?
I plan to get android auto for it (to use Spotify and Google maps).
I'd rather the MMI multimedia unit but if the sound quality is on par with the concert then I'm happy to compromise. I definitely want bang and oulfsen as I don't want to spend thousands upgrading the standard system.

A decent amp + speakers won't cost you that kind of money and will sound as good as the B&O.

The screen is really good. The sound quality is really good on mine. Installation is pretty straight forward. The google maps and spotify combo on andriod auto is brilliant. The large screen makes the cars interior a lot more modern. I'm really glad i got mine. The processor is quick as i got the top spec.

Every screen that is produced is designed for the specific original unit. The more popular the original unit the more choice you have when it comes to sourcing your new screen ie price, processing speed, supplier and most importantly the functionality of the new unit.

I will post some pics of my screen working but please bare in mind this one is for an MMI 2G High for a B8 A5, so I can't speak for any other unit.

If you are interested in a unit, its a good idea to go on Aliexpress and put them in your wishlist Aliexpress will then notify you when they are in a sale (I got mine for ÂŁ246)

Good luck

I installed a 12.3" aftermarket screen from Aliexpress in my B8, and it's been a game-changer for Android Auto. The Nunoo Factory Store had great reviews. My setup was a 2G MMI High with B&O sound system, and the new screen still delivers awesome sound quality. The MMI High uses fiber optics for sound, which makes a difference.
