Is it me, or is the A5 gearbox (manual) a really heavy piece of kit? I find it a bit clunky when changing gear, not particularly smooth when finding each shift. Just moved from a Saab 9-3 which was very similar in fact, but kinda expected a bit of a smoother gearbox from a beast of a car! My Dad's got an A4 and he says his gearbox is the same.

My old 52 reg ford focus had a smoother gearbox, really precise and easy to use, yet this doesnt seem as good? Just me being picky or is it generally a decent gearbox?

Just wondered peoples thoughts really, positive or negative.

Cheers.

The cold weather has certainly made mine feel a little more "notchy". It also feels like I have to make more of an effort to fully depress the clutch pedal to effect a smooth gear change although that's really more likely to be down to me becoming lazier and lazi...

notchy is the exact word I'd use to describe it. Not sure if its like it because its new, or because thats how its built.
