V1 or bust?

Not to convert this thread but is it common knowledge that the V1 is just about the best you can get in a radar? Or is it overrated? I've personally heard a lot of comments and custom installs with it and I've been considering it.. How does Escort compare?

This may be of interest to people in Europe but I just downloaded Cams Ahoy to my iPhone it cost 59p and works great.
'Cams Ahoy!'. Priceless. Worth 59p of anyone's money (if something can in fact be priceless yet worth 59p. Hmmm - discuss......)

Yes V1 is widely considered the best radar detector you can own. The escort guys will try to tell you that the escort is up there, which it is, but nothing can touch the V1, do a search there is a website here that did very thourough testing out in el paso on all the systems

i believe the V1 and 8500 are comparable. the only advantage the v1 has is the arrows but the 8500 is cheaper. if your comparing the 9500 to the v1 than i would 100% go with the 9500. plus some people have been getting many false alarms with the V1 because of side assist.

Well with all due respect, your an Escort dealer, a BMW dealer is always gonna say their 335 is better than an S5.

The 8500 is cheaper because it is older technology and last years model. The below compares the V1 and the 9500 not the older 8500, and the V1 still beats it.

The results are hard to argue with, althogh the escort scored well, the V1 was a little better in nearly all categories. The only reason you would choose the 9500 is because you sell it LOL

lol i agree with some of your points but i know plenty of people who would choose a 9500 over a V1.

Reviving an old thread, I know. However, BkS5, I am curious as to why you (or any of the other "plenty of people") would chose the 9500 over the V1. I am looking for a solution to replace my V1 since I cannot figure out a way to prevent side assist from messing with the V1.

If the V1 from Valentine has problems with Side Assist, then I dont' want it because I love my Side Assist.

I'm definitely interested in the 9500..... PM me with details and price...

I figured out a way to make my V1 work with the side assist. I used it this morning and it worked like a charm. All you need to do is disable the POP feature on your V1. Tech Report 3 on the V1 website tells you how to do this. Good luck.
