changing the color of the LED DRL

Hello,

Don't bash me. But has anyone tried changing the color of their LED to something else besides white? Is it possible?

Not possible... headlight housing is sealed such that you cannot access the LED's.

And besides, it's illegal in the UK (and maybe EU?) to show permanently-on lights at the front of the car in anything other than white. Always gives the law a reason to pull you, even if there is nothing else wrong with your car or driving.

What happens if one of the LED's blows, can you just replace them or do you have to change the whole light??? :yikes:

Whole light, I believe. But LEDS have a lif e expectancy of something like 50,000 hours, so if they go it's almost certainly a warranty issue (unless they have been tampered with!)

But I'm planning on keeping the Car longer than the 3yr warranty so any idea on how much these cost to replace?

I think I have seen other threads on this subject. Have you tried a search? Even outside of the warranty period, the LED's should be covered due to the life expectancy, hence the fact that they are sealed in and not replaceable.

I had this problem with my car. One led down and i had to change the whole headlight but it was covered by the warranty so dont worry.

ok, i'm just thinking out loud. Where I am, they don't care if my lights are green, blue or red. I wonder what it would look like if you put a color film strip over the led, so they light up in different color. Don't plan on doing it. just curious, what they would look like. probably silly looking....

i just tinted the headlights red over the DRLs and corner lights, looks awsome, only have iphone photo though

cmon guys. if it was an option to have your DRL white, blue, red, green, purple, im sure you would choose whatever color fits you best.

unfortunately living in a police state might limit those options. But there are drivers outside of the USofA...

heres some more photos.....yes i have specific style....mainly just blacking out stuff and making lights red.....notice nomore stripes....i ordered new ones so i ripped the old ones off....they got a little bit of weathering from some harsh carwashes....contemplating keeping them off...we will see. i just today put the light smoke tint over the whole headlight....it makes the red not as noticeable when the car is off....and ive been rolling around with the switch on the corner lights....so the red is more of a devilish hue than a bright red....these pictures are before the light smoke tint over it and with the headlights at the off switch....
