Can you play MP3s through MMI DVD?

i just thought it would be nice to load up MP3s on a single DVD rather than the CD multichanger thingy.

i have optioned B&O and Sat Nav if it makes any odds.

You can load MP3s on a CD and they will work but not on a DVD (AFAIA).
i read somewhere that there are 2 media card slots on the MMI system.

now that would solve alot of mp3 problems with 2gb cards available at the moment. actually, it would be fantastic if true.

can anyone confirm this?
The media slots were on the older generation of MMI - as per my 2004 - S4 - the new system in the A5/S5 and Q7 for that matter doesn't have media slots
is that answer definite?

i wish i could remember where i read it but it was from an owner. i'm going to have to hunt my internet trawling history now:eek:
found it

however, i have no idea what they're talking about (nav+) so if someone can break it down for me and clarify would be much appreciated.

thanks
There are definitley no SD card slots in the Sat Nav unit. They were part of the old style RNS-E units that I have in my RS4. The DVD drive is also just for the Sat Nav. It won't play films or music.

A lot in that post sounds similar to what my dealer was saying but he was basing it on an A4 and not the A5. Actual A5/S5 owners who have already got their cars have confirmed that the information on that link to be incorrect.
that's a real shame, that would have been my ideal way of listening to music.

burning mp3s to cd ca beome a bit wateful, especially if you have a new album and you want a quick listen. and i do't have an ipod, just a generic mp3 player (iriver).

so, the question now is, does an ipod connection retrofitted give sd inputs or at least an audio in or is it just purely for ipods (uugh)? sorry if this is now becoming an ipod connector topic, all relevant though:)
The Audi Music Interface (AMI) is actually compatible with any USB device, not just Ipods. There are different connectors available depending upon the device that you have. The best advice is to speak to a dealer or email Audi customer services to see if your device is compatible
thanks. when i was adding options i saw it as ipod connector, as i was in a rush i didn't think to ask about other connections. it's a shame it wasn't called AMI in the bvrochure, then i would have prompted more questions.

thank goodness it can be fitted aftermarket with B&O.

The poster in that link is quite wrong. He doesnt understand how the SatNav screen in the A5 is like the A6, not the A4. On the A5 there are no SD slots and the screen doesnt fold down, it is fixed in the MMI screen on the upper part of the dashboard.
Yes, it will be able to read MP3's. WMA I'm not so sure about.
