Hi all,
recently got a used ‘09 A5 2.0 auto. It has a strong smell of burning oil in the cabin intermittently. Also the oil level drops abnormally quickly.
I’m aware of the excessive oil consumption issue but not sure that this is the same problem. Upon removing the engine cover, I can see pooling of oil on the top of the engine block below the oil filler spout. This returns even when cleaned and no it isn’t from spills when topping up. Also I see what looks to be an oil leak on the front of the engine block below the black plastic timing chain cover. Is this a common area for an oil leak?
Open to any pointers on this issue.
Thanks
Joseph
