i agree with you i just got mine & love items cousin has one on his M3 and i loved the note it produced not to mention the craftsmanship is so perfect cant wait to do headers & h pipe without cats so dam mean sounding pure power sound no raspy rice burner sound esp that i have the 4.2 liter motor
I always thought my Millteks sounded great from inside the car. Heard them from the outside for the first time yesterday. Eargasm is an understatement. I get compliments every day.
I never hear anyone talk up Miltek, its like the bastard child of the exhaust world. However I hear a lot of you tube and real life exhausts and honetly my Miltek sounds great and I get compliments all the time. What gives?
Last summer I put on (or under))) Milltek non-res catback and downpipes. The sound was awesome, to put it mildly. Just recently, I changed the middle part to resonated, because I have tiptronic, and the drone was too much for da lady. Not anymore screaming eagle, but still enough to turn heads a mile away.
I like this topic.... Looking to find out what the best exhaust was too. I have watched a ton of videos on line and been to all the webpages and compared prices.
Has anyone just gone to a muffler shop and had a custom one made? A local shop here in Charlotte told me that they could do full header back exhaust for about half the price. Also any tip set up I want. I have seen some of the work they do on BMW's and its quality stuff, but I don't know... something bout a name brand puts me at comfort.
There are a few with custom exhaust S5Trace but nothing more than cat-back systems. Make sure your shop is aware that it's a matter of an engine drop to get the cats out and I dread to think how difficult it is to get to the headers, it's an extremley tight fit!
I bet his shop did not realize where the cats are.
Spinner, what are the things that look like cats at the bottom? They are just before where the cat backs hook up. Since those are not cats can they really call these systems cat backs? And, how many mufflers and resonators do these cars have?
Looks to me like cats, resonators, muffler, resonators. No wonder they are so quite.
Just to add my two cents, I LOVE my GMG. I get lots of compliments on the sound. Not too loud to make it sound like a '67 Chevelle but gives it the right exotic sound. I love it.
Thinking of going with a milltek non res exhaust with the downpipes, but I am wondering if it will be loud enough and what are the real performance gains on a standard car ? Also any mot pass problems ?
The Milltek non resonated + Milltek downpipes setup is more quiet than just the AWE Track exhaust (but louder than the Tuning exhaust). Honestly, there are literally no gains (especially HP/TQ to the wheels) to be of any significance for our cars.
I had a stasis exhaust, was too loud inside and not so loud outside
then got a milltek non res with AWE downpipes, sounds good but want something louder
will be installing AWE track exhaust with AWE downpipes very soon
Why not get your cats removed and custom tune? Will definately be louder (mines 94db @ 4k rpm LOL), will cost you less and you should get at least 25hp gain!
I have the AWE track w/o DPs and I think it's the best. NO drone, and a great sound, especially on the overrun. Been at Atlanta twice and had more compliments when behind an R8 V10 than anywhere else. Two guys wanted to follow me home just to hear it. I normally drive even in this heat, with the windows down just for the sound - better
than most music I could choose...

I was checking out which to buy for my S5 too. I thought milltek sounded awesome, but now ppl are mentioning this AWE system. I`ve never heard of it. Anyone got a link to the site so I can check out how to buy it. Oh and for milltek too pls. Oh one more thing, does anyone have a vid of the AWE system on their car? Would love to hear how it sounds. Thanks
gracing, Very few on here will be aware of the PES exhaust. They've only just entered this market. The S5 exhaust is as far as I'm aware about to launch and will be competively priced. Their exhaust systems are made by a very well known exhaust manufacture in the UK that specialises in Ferrari's and other such exotics so if that's the sort of sound you're after you probably couldn't go wrong! Here's a teaser of their new R8 exhaust (think you'll agree it sounds awsome)....
As for a tune (chip), it's horses for courses on the V8, they all do approx the same. That being the most you'll notice is increase throttle response as the gains are no more than 20hp/25tq by any supplier, there just isn't much left to ring out of this engine without heavily modding it.
Wow sounds great just how I like it deep throaty rumble it reminds me of mine I went with Billy Boat Performance Sport model It screams in & out of the car & the price is right the craftsmanship is excellent as well it is easy to install as well I love the Armytrix is great with all the features but the price is crazy
Wow so I listened to Milltek, AWE, and now PES is going to have a exhaust for the S5 too!!!! I have to say the PES exhaust sounds amazing. Have they launched it for the S5 yet? If so how much? What kind of gains are seen on the S5?
Agreed the PES R8 exhaust is the best I've heard by far.
I believe the first PES S5 exhaust is being installed this weekend. As for price not sure but I do know it's going to be very competative. Hopefully we'll have a video soon.
