So I dropped my car off today at the dealership because of rattling in the door panels and the rear deck/subwoofer
very unhappy with the results.....
It feels like the overall quality of the B&O sound system decreased....
I feel like im not getting the bass i used to get...
When I was talking to the service rep I told him "rattling" now that im looking at the service report he wrote it down as "rear speakers are noisy"
Pretty much the rattle is still there....and I feel like through this mis-communication the tech lowered my bass output lower through vag com or something like that...is that possible??
I wish that i was just imagining this.....but somehow after listening to the same songs over and over at MAX volume...it just doesnt hit as hard as it used to....
any suggestions on what to do?? should i take it to another dealer?
Also, is there anyone in new york city that can help me compare??
IMHO I'd be inclined to take your car to a high-end car audio dealer. Despite the risk of being stitched up, and being told to replace components, I have a lot more faith in a specialist car audio expert than the muppets at your average Audi service department. (not a slur on all Audi service employees either, I know there are good one's out there!).
Audi service guys tend to run out of talent when you go back to them with the same problem more than once.
I'm interested in this too. I just had mine in for the "low bass/subwoofer" output issue, almost exactly as described by you here. I've heard the amp can be reprogrammed but don't have any data on it. Quattrings on the AW forums might know something about it, and I've posted a message to him asking. I'll update if I find anything else out, but let me know if you do as well.
I had a new rear sub fitted, didnt fix the vibration, then the dealer replaced the rear shelf put some pieces of foam and felt in there and sealed the edges of the underside grille with some black stuff. This worked for a while but the vibration is back again. I got the impression from the dealer that they had done all they could.
As a matter of interest if I pull down on the underside of the shelf (from inside the boot (trunk)) the vibration stops.
guys i have the same problem. B&O at low bass gives me rattling and horrible sound.
Sound staging is bad too. For as much accolade as this system is getting, i think its crappy.. or is it just me?
Some people have the same problems (like me) and it sounds horrible (I compared it to another S5 with B&O and this one sounded much better). Most comming causes: broken amp and/or sub woofer, when replaced it sounds "reasonable" (a 7.5 on a scale of 10) but don't expect a miracle system still. Still a pity the B&O DSP can not be switched off, that might be a great solution to have at least a decent system, but ok.
