That's what I thought when the DIS first started dinging at me a couple of weeks ago but I checked the MMI service interval and also called my fleet company. With the engine oil changed today the MMI now says another 9500 miles to the next change. Probably an idiosyncracy of the 1.8TFSI ... don't really care as I don't pay for any running costs apart from petrol.

Anyway ... on to the "on topic" stuff.

Picked my car up from Leeds Audi just before 6pm tonight (closing time for the service desk) and had a big inward groan when they told me that all they'd done was change the oil.

I asked what they'd done with the speaker query I'd raised and they initially said nothing then went and checked the "service card". Having done this they told me the engineer had "reset the system" at which point I have to confess to thinking "yeah right, it's 5.55pm and you want to be home, the minute I step out of the door you'll shut up shop ASAP, you just want me out". The service lady then went on to say that the OEM equipment I'd had installed had messed up some settings (some may recall I had a Parrot bluetooth kit installed see this topic) which added some credibility so off I went to the car.

Let me here and now apologise to Leeds Audi for my cynicism because they've fixed it! I now have a deep resonant bass in my car ... in fact the volume of the B&O full stop seems to have increased significantly to the point where the bass is unbearable when I crank it up. No way was the system this loud before I had the Parrot kit installed so I'm not convinced that it was this that really created the problem.

A couple of things I did notice were that pressing the CD button twice now takes me to a screen I've never seen before and that when I now try to check my oil level whilst moving the MMI refuses to do so telling me there is insufficient information which is an issue others have reported so I'm kind of suspecting that "resetting the system" may actually have been a software upgrade.

Whatever, my B&O is now meeting expectations and I'm a happy Audi customer again.

UPDATE:

1. The screen I've never seen before is the "Playlists" screen. I would have thought this was standard before but I've never seen it and I used to frequently try pressing the CD button to try and switch between CD and SD card. The SD card has no playlists on it but it still shows a "Music" folder.
2. Tried my oil check whilst moving tonight and it DID show the oil level this time.
3. My B&O still goes a bit awry when I crank up the volume to full but it is definitely significantly louder with much more bass presence. Still v happy with the improvements.

My Sub on S5 B&O with MMI is a mess

My sub is a total dud, i noticed only after reading this thread. I listened from the boot finding that the sub is doing nothing but making horrible noises.

Then the other day i was listening to music at a very low volume on a bassey track when i heard a distorting noise from the rear shelf. I cant believe the sounds it was making....like something is defo blown. Booked it in At Audi Waford Monday morning, i want a new sub and amp.

Very unhappy after owning car for 1 WEEK!!!!!!!!

Withnail, I am seeing the same behavior as you, subwoofer can barely be heard even when in the boot. (I have B&O without Navi). The front speakers are doing all the work and to compensate I normally fade it 2 or 3 clicks to the rear. Overall the sound is OK, but not nearly as good as I was expecting.
Finally got around to retro-fitting MMI High, Sat Nav and AMI to my A5. The effect of these changes on the quality of the B&O sound system is like night-and-day. The "missing" B&O sound focus and surround level options appeared and the general quality of sound improved significantly (after almost 2 years with the "old" system I have become very accustomed to how it sounded :)

Hey blackjack, care to describe how the retro-fit went? What/where did you buy from? Did you install at the dealer?

Edit: Never mind, just saw your other thread

i always assumed this was fixed in a software update at some point. I have the B&O with MMI low (no navi) and yet i have all the surround, left/right bias, and front/rear fader options enabled.
There are at least one possibly two more options enabled on the MMI high with B&O. From memory surround is one of them.
