B&O Front Speaker Upgrade (OEM Faital 8" to ????)

New 2010 RS5 (B8) owner from NZ here, so I went to treat my doors in the RS5 and found the front B&O woofers foam perished, so am on the hunt for a suitable replacement to mount in the factory housings.

Narrowed down to the following 2 options

1) DD rl-cs 6.5 Components, good sensitivity 90db, RMS rating of 80RMS, great frequency response in low to mid. I would mount in a 6.5" MDF ring and secure + seal into the factory housing.

2) Faital Pro 8FE200 8" , high sensitivity 95db and RMS of 110, and is same size as the factory, may be able to JB weld these into factory mount and seal around edges.

Open to suggestions as to other options that will sound as good or slightly better than factory. Wondering if I need to go 8" or can a better quality 6.5" sound the same if not better ?

Highly recommended speaker upgrade option:
For the doors Audison Prima 6.5" 16cms
with MDF (Front) 165mm 6.5" Speaker Adaptor Ring Spacer Collars- UK eBay item: 174041993482
I also have these in the rear quarters (coupe) but had to make the collar spacers as they are not the same as the front.
In addition, I have the Audison Voce 3.0 High End Midrange Car Speakers in the dash & on the rear shelf.
The B&O Amps are decentt and the tweeters are fine, so by upgrading to quality speakers this will transform the sound- especially if you disconnect the sub on the rear shelf and add an indepenent matching sub & sub-amp in the boot..

Yes I discovered the Audison prima last night, and saw the 6.5 and also a 8" option the AP8, would the 8" be an option as well?
Yes, I'm fairly sure (not having done it myself) they should fit but be careful it's not too bassy -depending on your intended final Sub set-up and of course you would need bigger collars for them.
This is a useful thread on Audizine that discusses both the 6.5 & 8 Audisons on page 26:

Thanks for the quick response. I do think now the AP8 is a good choice, final sub setup will be 10" pioneer shallow running 300RMS class D, stock sub will be removed and the hole should let bass in from the down firing woofer in boot.

I feel the stock 8" in front doors, could dig a tiny bit lower so its possible these combined with lack of rattle of stock sub and an extra 10-15% more sub volume will balance the system out perfectly provided the AP8 provides a good mid range response.

Got some 8" Ap8 Audison on the way with basser mdf mounting rings for RS5.

Looking forward to filling in some bass / mid while I get around to installing my sub setup.

Bloody 3 months and no sign of my Ap8s, stuck at IPZ Frankfurt with DHL. Knew I should have spent extra $60 and sourced via local supplier via Aussie.

I've been holding off running the new sub setup until Ap8s are in as I'm not entirely happy with the sound of sub in boot vs the stock one in shelf.

Running quality pioneer gear so unsure why it doesn't sound as clean and smooth as the stock.
Hi @heylinTTnz, the stock front B&O speakers on my A5 have gone too as the foam perished. Just wondering if you went down the AP8S route with the adapter rings and how it sounds if so?
Good boost to mid range bass and little bit more deep bass up front. So much so I don't feel pressing need to upgrade the sub even though I have the parts. Great sounding system now.
