What a day! Collected my S5 today and Wow! Difficult to be concise. What a car, absolute class.
The Good - Superb engine, just enough growl to let you know its there and willing but nowhere near as harsh as an M3 or a 911.
The Suprising - Almost everyone stopped and looked at it as we drove past Male AND Female. One car drove round the roundabout 3 times looking at it as we sat there laughing. Girls stopped in the street, lads outside boozers on the phone just stopped and stared. My wife was in histerics! Some guys even pulled alongside at 60mph and said how fab the car was. Women loved the lines and the Meteor Grey colour- ooh isn't lovely, The guys were more vocal and ' i want one' and 'doesn't it sound good!' We couldn't believe it.
The not so good - Fuel economy. If you worry about this then buy a 2.0TDI. I averaged 12.7 today.
The bad - Back seat space. Both my young sons had NO legroom in the rear with 2 adults in the front (but they still loved it???? Not a prob for me as i am the only one in the car for 99% of the time. Limited storage so go for the extra net thing in the boot. SAT NAV brilliant but Bass response of standard stereo (despite subwoofer) is limited.
All in all, if some B****** nicked my car off the drive tonight would I buy another...........Yes, absolutely.
Its not practical, its not frugal, its quite intimidating but F*** it, its puts a LARGE smile on your face, everyone one loves it, Boy it goes (and goes well!) and it doesn't have the arrogance of a BMW or the smugness of a Mercedes.
I Love it. Its Emotive and a Coupe should be exactly That!
