Hi Simon! I have Audi a5 cabrio from 2013, I’m the first owner and love the car and car is great, two years ago it was first time I had issue with the roof, ( soft top not secured , or soft top cannot be used) that was fixed and roof open only once and again issue, second time I gave it for fixing they told me all roof should be replaced, didn’t believe so I inspected it by my self and found out that thin electrical wire in trunk is cut off ( that wire was on right side in trunk where is magnetic switch sensor , and it worked for some time till 6months ago I got hit with delivery scooter that had metal construction in front of the scooter, so standard insurance process, they took the car one day to Audi to inspect it , day after I got car back and roof open and closed and next time was not possible, so I called Audi service and asked questions turned out my car was never there in past 48hours( insurance told it was) , decided to take things in my own hands and started all inspection by myself, turned out that in soft compartment box metal bar was not level and that magnetic plate doesn’t stick by its own, then I fiddled with it to stick it and level the metal bar at the back, and roof opened normally no strange sounds , went out from car and notice soft top lid is not closed, 1.5cm up between gasket and lid , then I slowly closed roof again and find out that things in roof storage are not in correct place , put it as it should be but still roof lid dosent close like that there is smth on roof when it is in fully folded position, i measured sides and all is even , nothing is bent, no any obstacle and still lid dosent fully close, when i close roof that lid closes completely! I do search lots on forum just there are different issues! Hope explained story will help! Thank you
