Good morning. I havent operated my roof in a few months as it’s been winter months however I recently tried to operate my roof how ever once I press the button all four windows go down halfway, the tray in the boot pops down but I am alerted with a flashing roof symbol on my dash and error message soft top can not be used. There’s are no obstructions in the boot no damage or anything to the roof. Can any one help me I’m dreading this be a expensive Audi dealership job 😩 and hope it’s just a fuse or something simple.

I had something like this and there was an obstruction in the drop panel in the boot. I put it up and down a few times and some item of clothing fell out.

Worked fine after that. If the rear panel is lifting that means all is working to that point but it can't fit the roof in the boot so that's the area I'd be having a good look at upside down with touch in hand (true story)

thank you for your reply. Let me clarify the rear panel doesn’t open or move the only operations that happen is the the boot storage in the boot is closed that will open (drop down) and all for windows go half way. Nothing happens on the outside of the vehicle not sure if you meant the outside operations

Oh sorry.. My bad. I thought you meant the boot opened for roof accepting.

Mate dont go near the official Stealer network!! You need a good VAG specialist for sure.

Yeah hoping I don’t have to end up at Audi because I already know that bill gonna be ridiculous. I’m gonna try change couple fuses in the boot related to the roof operation im hoping that fixes it probably won’t tho but worth a try. Never had any issues with the roof before so frustrating to have this now. I ain’t had the roof down in months tho so unsure when the problem started from. Had the car in body shop start of the year they had to change front end bumper grill and side fender etc some one crashed into
Me. I’m thinking maybe they didn’t plug something back in but I doubt anything to do with the roof is in the front end or the driver door.

fingers crossed it’s just something simple. It’s almost like there’s no power going to the pump to operate it because I don’t hear it at all only thing I hear is the windows drop and the storage compartment in the boot activate.

Mmmmm. Find a good VAG specialist mate cos the officials will simply clean you out!!!!

Hi. I think that there are a lot of us with the same sort of issue. Someone posted under "soft top problem", called Gerard, I think. He finally got his solved by a soft top specialist in Chester called Hood Tech. Tel number 03337729652 for £350 plus vat. Related to a couple of sensors f171 and f202 apparently.
Mine suddenly started to work again so could be partly damaged wire but I've been too scared to try it again in this weather!!
