Hey guys, I got my audi a5 b9 few weeks ago and have some problems with the ambient lighting. Firstly I have no option of changing colors, only brightness levels though I do not know if it has the extended light package, it only says “Ambient Lighting Package” in the car’s features. Besides that, the door ambient lights light up in red when I open the car but quickly turn off once I turn the ignition on but I thought they have to stay on while I am driving. Hope you can help me, thanks!

Hi,
I think you need the enhanced package to change the colour. I have and even mine only stay on if the ambient light sensor allows (it's dark enough) or if I switch on my headlights.

It will be dark when I go home later so I'll have a play around and let you know what I get in differing light conditions.

Yeah but when I start the engine it lights up in red on the doors and then it turns off which is weird..

Hi, Just checked mine in day light (nice and sunny outside) with exterior lights switched to AUTO. Start engine and have no door strip lights at all. Turned the exterior light switch to headlights on, start the engine and all door strip lights come on and stay on. When I start my car up in the garage it is dark enough for the ambient light sensor to make the door lights come on but they do go off after a while if it's bright enough. I have a link to the owners manual. I'll try and send it to you. It may clear it up in there.

Interior lighting Applies to: vehicles with interior lighting .,. Select in the Infotainment system : MENU button > Vehicle > left control button > Vehicle settings > Interior lighting. The interior lighting turns on when you switch the headlights on while the ignition is on . Version 1 To adjust the brightness of individual zones, select Front brightness, Door brightness or Footwell brightness . Turn the control knob to the left or to the right. Press the control knob to confirm the brightness. Version 2 Select and confirm one of the displayed profiles by pressing the control knob. Individual : you can customize the brightness and color of individual zones . Press the right control button. Press the control knob again to confirm the settings . Audi drive select: the interior and contour lighting color changes depending on the driving mode selected in drive select* c::> page 138 .

I do not really have the option to change colors and the door strips turn off after starting the engine even during night time. You can see how it lights in red but once I get going it turns off.

Sorry my friend I am now well and truly baffled. I tried all sorts of options on Friday but could not replicate your issue. Perhaps there is fault with the ambient lighting sensor. You've obviously checked for blown fuses etc.

That's correct. In the dark / low light conditions the strip shows white when I open the door to get in. When I start the car it turns to which ever colour I have selected.

The red is to show there is an object in the blind spot so don't open the door!
i also notice if you sit in the car a while with the ignition off they both light up along with the mirror warning lights then switch off after a few seconds

HI, I see that you have the same problem at your audi, I have a a5 sportback 2021.and my door strips (red) going on when I open en close the car.otherwise they wont burning at night. Have you fixed this problem at your car. My email/[email protected]

As others have said, the red lights lighting up temporarily are not a "problem".

The red lights are showing you the blind spot warning system is working properly. It's in the manual.
