Audi A4 stolen

I have an Audi A4 on a 2019 plate. Whilst shopping at Tesco with my kids it was stolen. I still had the key on me and the vehicle was locked.

CCTV was checked and it showed the vehicle being taken by two males. I checked my Audi app and it was logged out (unusual). I logged back in and the car was all locked but there was a message to say it was parked unsafely.

After reporting the theft, a security guard from Tesco had said that previously cars taken had been left somewhere else close by to be picked up later. So we checked the car park and luckily actually found the car parked at the opposite end of the car park.

My concern is now that:

1) how did they do it and is it likely to happen again?
2) is there anything I can do to make my car more secure?
3) How will I know if they have put a tracker on my car so they can take it later (this may just be paranoia)?

Thank you.

You were probably followed at some point and your key was cloned. Either that or they smashed the window and cloned a new key via the OBDII port. To make your car more secure get an aftermarket immobiliser, look into autowatch ghost.

A good old low tech steering wheel clamp is probably the cheapest way.

ANY mechanical deterrent is good, whether crooklock or whatever. Hopefully the toe rags then seek an easier steal.
Thanks all, I've had the keys remapped and bought a steering lock, also looking into the autowatch ghost as I need my car for work etc.

Luckily this time I was only about 5 miles from home so someone was able to come get me and we were able to recover the vehicle, however most of the time I work between 1-2 hours from home which makes things more difficult.
