Hello everyone! Let me start off with the car. The car is an '09 S5, it currently has 95,000 miles on it. I obtained the car at around 88.5K. It had two owners and was relatively well maintained, but needed some work. I still have a little bit more maintenance to do but for the most part it's almost as good as running stock. My plans for the vehicle are something to be elegant/classy, yet undeniably aggressive, and pretty fast. A street car with an attitude. Something people look at and go "THAT'S an Audi?" I also want the car to be stiffer, and more confidence inspiring. The potential is there in the S5, I just have a hard time feeling it coming from my last vehicle where you felt everything. This will likely be a long and slow build process, but, I'll try to post in it regularly. I'm always welcome to feed back and input as well. So, here we go.

As far as engine/power performance, I've come up with a pretty decent list. It should make the car faster than most things on the street, at least in my area, and all be pretty much easy bolt-on work.

- Intake: 034Motorsports silicon intake tube and a K&N air filter
- Exhaust: Custom 3" cat-back exhaust
- Forced induction: JHM Stage 1+ supercharger kit (once it releases)
- Fueling: JHM upgraded HPFP internals if not supplied in the Stage 1+ kit
- Transmission: JHM R-Series "5R" clutch & lightweight flywheel, JHM short throw shifter, JHM shifter linkage
- Wheels/Tires: Vorsteiner VFF-104 20" x 10" wheels, undecided on a tire compound as of yet
- Chassis rigidity: 034Motorsports density line front control arms, trans./diff./diff. carrier mounts, rear subframe inserts, aluminum X-brace
- Suspension: H&R coil overs (lowering to ~2.0" front and rear), 034Motorsports strut mounts, 034Motorsports solid rear sway bar
- Weight reduction: I don't have many ideas other than the before mentioned wheels, and a carbon fiber hood. Any ideas?

That's about it for the performance aspect of it. There will be plenty of cosmetic mods too. I'm looking into that "Xenox UK" RS5 bumper conversion kit, but I don't know what I'd do with my fog lights. It would be cool to maybe re-wire the fogs to be red LED's for the engine bay and behind the grilles. If I don't do the Xenox UK bumper, I'll do honeycombe in grilles. Some medium-to-dark window tints, light tail light tints, the P3Cars gauges, gloss black badges, and maybe a carbon fiber rear diffuser. I'll likely do the window trim from chrome to the "brilliant black" color, as well as get carbon fiber mirror cap replacements. Kind of black-out the car a bit, but hopefully in a bit of a tasteful manner.

I'll post progress as it slowly comes here, and look forward to any input/advise anyone has!

Update 9/26/17:
I forgot to mention current modifications to the car. Currently the car has the 034Motorsports silicon intake tube, 034Motorsports dentisy line control arms, the OEM metal pedal set, and a custom cat-back exhaust. The car has the stockheaders, cats, and down pipes. But my friend and I cut out the resonators, and three mufflers, and piped it all the way to the rear. It definitely sounds amazing and mean, but, it's a bit louder than it probably should be. Once I decided to do a custom 3" stainless or titanium exhaust back, I'll perhaps install a muffler or two to quiet it down a bit, hopefully without losing all the crackle and pops the car currently makes.

That’s some list, Sazexa! Welcome aboard.
Think about bi-modal mufflers. They’ll keep your neighbours from trying to kill you every time you start the car, but still allow “full noise” at the flip of a switch.
Have a look at the build threads by Cuppa and Masuurik. They’ve both done a stunning job of producing the “THAT’S an Audi?!” effect you’re after.
Oh, and pix, man! We NEED pix!

Luckily, there's quite a bit of space between myself and neighbors, so, they haven't complained yet!

I'm assuming those are exhaust cut-outs with switches? I thought about it, but, I don't think I'd want that. I want something simple, so, I'll likely just get some sound baffles/high flow mufflers or something when I do the 3" exhaust.

Thanks guys!

Update 9/27/2017: Installed a K&N air filter. I don't necessarily know if it "added power" but the throttle is definitely more responsive now and climbs RPM's a bit smoother. On that note, I think I may need to start looking into a new clutch. I've been driving my other car lately, and today it felt that in the last say 10% of clutch travel the car was a bit lurchy/rocky. I'm wondering if it's just me shifting too slowly being acclimated to the other car at the moment. Then again, the clutch does have 95,000 miles on it. So it might finally be time. Which kind of stinks, but, hopefully I can order the clutch kit I wanted then.

Regardless, here's a few more pictures for now!

I also spoke to a near by shop that specializes in Audi's. He told me I'd likely be better off doing a water/methanol injection system to help maintain valve cleanliness, as well as increase/maintain higher power better especially with forced induction. The kit he quoted me for is kind of expensive, and I'd need a tune to go with it, so it'd be about $1,500 all together. But he said they typically see gains in the 30-40 AWHP/AWTQ range on V8 S5's like this. So it may be worth it for a N/A option until I can supercharge it.

I just recently had my wheels painted by a place out of Branford, CT, called "Shoreline Coatings." They gave me an excellent price: $325 to sandblast and powder coat all four wheels and another $25 to mount the tires. I'll be balancing/roadforcing them next weekend, as well as putting on H&R Sport Springs to drop the car about 1.25". More pics to come next week sometime when everything is installed.

Wheels balanced, mounted, and on the car. I've got some H&R Sport Springs sitting in the garage waiting to go on. Might order some more cosmetic stuff and then get back to the performance parts. I also found some black wheel center caps for the wheels that are glossy and Audi OEM for only around $20 on Amazon.

The next purchases are likely going to be a honeycombe RS5 style grille and foglight bezel, window tints, vinyl wrapping for the window trim, tail light and foglight tints, black badges, carbon fiber mirrors and license plate cover, red LED license plate lights, and then that should be it for a while regarding cosmetic changes. Following a black and red theme, I might try to find red LED foglights (as I never actually use the foglights) and maybe some red LED's to put in the grille/engine bay at meets. Perhaps powdercoat the calipers red as well.

Any more info on this water/meth kit? $1,500 for 40 hp isn't too bad.

No, it's not bad at all. I think that's including a tune to go with it, which those alone are generally $600-$700. The parts were I think $600. So it's really not a bad price.

The next thing I'm looking into is the carbon cleaning. As I'm getting some slight hesitation and I believe that to be the cause.

Some "real" pictures of how the wheels came out:

Some small cosmetic goodies are also inbound, as I said they would be. Trying to decide what the next item I want to buy it. If anyone's reading this, give me your vote for the next mod of the following choices.

1. RS5 style grille/foglight bezels
2. 034Motorsport rear anti-roll bar
3. JHM Short-throw shifter/shift knob
4. Window tints
5. Complete the conversion from the quad exhaust diffuser to the dual outlet (one on each side)

Pictures didn't seem to post with the above picture, perhaps for their file size. Trying again with this post! (Hopefully it doesn't duplicate)

Another small update; some red LED license plate lights to add to the red and black theme.

Small update again! Got some RS style honey-combe grilles installed! I've also got some H&R Sport Springs I've been waiting to put on for some time, as well as I'll be finishing up a mini conversion on the rear end to change my quad-exhaust outlet valence to the A5 S-Line one with a single outlet on each side.

Sorry for the crappy phone pictures!

Another quick little set of updates;

I've replaced the rear diffuser with the one that comes on a 3.2L A5 S-Line, as well as changed out the exhaust tips. They're mostly done now, tomorrow it'll be hung up properly and set in place. I also plasti-dipped the diffuser to black.

This, combined with the lack of S5 badging, makes it really hard to tell that it's not an A5, and is a S5... At least until I get on it. lol

Next steps might be carbon fiber mirrors, and blacking-out the window trim.

Great work , what is the engine putting out
I'm unsure, come spring I plan to dyno it and see where it currently stands. I then want to have it carbon cleaned, replace plugs and coils, and tuned, and see where it stands after that. I'm hoping all said and done I'll be at around maybe +35HP/TQ over stock figures. Being hopeful.

Now that the JHM Stage 2 kit is released, when the time comes I'll be adding that. I'm also planning on doing an X-Pipe in the exhaust to help add a few more HP and TQ. I might do independent dyno runs before and after an X-Pipe to see how it goes. JHM may also be releasing high-flow cats soon for the B8 4.2L S5, and that would potentially free up a lot more power for the car.

Mini update: I plan on getting the car dyno'd soon. I can feel a slight bit of hesitation with the engine, specifically in the lower RPM range. I'm suspecting it's a combination of many things. Carbon build up, "tired" injectors, spark plugs and ignition coils as well. So, I plan to maybe get it dyno'd before, and dyno'd after doing some maintenance work. Also, hopefully not long after all that a tune and another dyno run to see how well the tune helped after that. In the shorter term, new tires, wheel spacers, and lowering springs are all inbound soon. Maybe some touch up paint as well.

Had to get the car towed home last night. Something for the hydraulic system of the clutch operation went bad. Not sure if it's just the line, master, or slave cylinder yet. Might just replace all three. Oh well.
