I wanted to see how the car was with the V6 (gas). I am trying to decide between the S5 and A5. A lot of reviewers say the A5 is a better value over the S5 (performance wise). I just wanted some opinions to see what you guys thought. Of course the S5 has more HP, but thats not always everything. What do you guys think? I like both cars!

thanks for the info guys! The only one I got to drive was the A5 S-line with the 3.0 TDI, which i actually liked. I really want those in the states, id be plently happy with that.

How is the gas mileage compared to the S5? From what I have been reading, they are about the same.. but I don't know if that is true or just numbers. 26.5 MPG sounds pretty good. I wouldn't plan on driving either one as an everyday driver.. esp when we move to Ohio from Germany here soon.

But I definately think the S Line package is worth it (except the stiff sports suspension). The S5 seats look uncomfortable, but what do I know lol.

No, I am getting the manual. I learned how to drive stick here in germany in my old 89 CQ, and I couldn't go back to automatic, unless i owned a truck or something like that.

Thanks for all the info! Its very helpful!

Yes, the car I am going to order will be a US spec one. We can order german cars, and the like from special dealers off base (not a typical Audi or BMW dealer). Unfortunately, even those dealers are totally clueless when it comes to the A5/S5 audis. They never heard of the side assist, or drive select, etc. I actually have more info bec of these forums than the actual dealer (no surprise there).

So 15 MPG for the S5 sounds about right.. its about the same as the ford mustang ppl in the states are going crazy for (I don't care for it really, the interior is too cheap and plastic).

Height adjustable suspension? See, I didnt know that existed. Is that like the drive select, or is that something totally different. Most of the options that can be ordered in germany or the UK, still aren't available for the US spec ones (even though I am ordering in Germany). The only difference from buying here, instead of in the states, is that we get a bit of a discount for being in the military, but shipping/port handling fees are included in the price.

You guys are making it harder for me LOL. I don't know about an S-line or S5 being a daily driver.. prob be a weekend driver or special day kind of driver. If I could get the MMI controls by the shifter without getting the Nav, I wouldn't get the NAV.. but I like the controls there. I never owned a NEW v8 before, and I dunno if I could give up the S5 for a 3.0 TDI S-line if it ever comes to the states. :)
