Yep, I'll give you that. Yes, their pics are misleading. It very well could be that if one were to order an A5 filler plate from them, it might not be gloss black. But, definitely spec'ing an A5 from the factory will have a gloss black filler plate and grille.

Here's a white A5 in Germany with a blacked out S5 grille installed, gloss black roof, and gloss black S5 rear diffuser. (You can tell it's an A5 by the seat headrests.)

It seems like he went through quite a bit of trouble, like... why even swap in the S5 grille if you are just going to paint it black anyway?

i'd say..use the S5 grille, keep the chrome parts, and and paint the grey part glossy black.
