B&B car looks really nice. I have a quartz grey coming in a week or two and was wondering what it would look like and Nickell you already had it posted: I love that look. I think I might just have to do that.One of the major reasons that this site is so complete is because of the members.

Yep, that's my car in the second photo posted by theMil. While I can appreciate the blacked out look, it's not something I'm interested in doing on my car. I think that effect is better suited for cars that have a paint color other than black.

I know I am partial but I like the black corner better then the Euro Clear headlights. I think for the Black it is better anyway, I havent seen anyone else with it with another color A/S5

I would also like just an empty grille like that R8 . I have heard others say the Black A5 grille looks cheaper, I guess cause I like the blacked out look I like it better then the S5's To point I would be tempted to switch out if had an S5.

Thanks ccompton but that grille is the standard grille we get over here on the 3.0TDI version which is what I've ordered.

Here's a white A5 in Germany with a blacked out S5 grille installed, gloss black roof, and gloss black S5 rear diffuser. (You can tell it's an A5 by the seat headrests.)

So S5's grille is greyish and A5 is black? um...It should be the other way around since black looks nicer. I guess S5 owners have to get their grilles painted black.

Unless I'm mistaken, our configs in the US are:

Standard A5 - standard plastic black grid pattern with chrome surround and chrome rings

A5 S-Line - same as above but gloss black

S5 - grey with pronounced chrome verticals

I agree that the A5 S-Line grille looks sporty, but I do like the chrome vertical bars as well. I'd be tempted to just take the grille to a good body shop and convert the grey part to gloss black.

It is also notable that if you get the license plate delete cover, it is always grey whether you have A5 or S5. I would want to paint this gloss black as well.

Ray, yes you are mistaken regarding US spec cars.

Both the non S-line A5 and A5 S-line get the IDENTICAL gloss black grille in the US. I've seen plenty of them to know this is 100% the case (at least for MY2008). My own non S-line A5 has the gloss black grille just like the S-line.

You are also incorrect about the front filler plate. When you spec the front filler plate with your A5 order in the US, it comes from the factory in gloss black on both the A5 and A5 S-line. Only the S5 filler plate is gray.

Yes and I need to stop foruming so much when I'm supposed to be working =) I was just trying to compare pictures online, there actually aren't enough A5/S5 around town to look at, and I'm still 4 months out, lol.

To my credit, MadAudi is a bit misleading then:

"S5 color is platinum grey with two horizontal chrome strips. A5 color is graphite grey with chrome strips."

They barely look any different from each other, and neither of them look gloss black.
