Hi I have the lighting package on my car as standard. Is this the same as ambient lighting or totally different? If it is different can I enable it from the green menu to make it work? I have a sales brochure for my car and it doesn’t list ambient lighting as an option.

If you have the lighting pack, that’s it.

Easiest way to check is usually to see if you have a light in the glove box or not.

Yes I have the light in glove box. So this means I don’t have or can enable ambient lighting?

You already have it. Are you missing the lighting dial in car settings then?

Having the interior light pack does not mean ambient lighting is enabled. You will need to enable with vcds or similar.

Yes I have no way of adjusting them in car settings. I am off to see a man with VAGCOM to get some things enabled in the green menu. Is that all I need to do to get it working?

I got this enabled yesterday and it has the ambient light controls on the MMI but all it does is dim the footwell lights. Ah well another toy to play with when I’m extremely bored

Yes, that’s all it does, plus of course keeping them on at the chosen setting while driving, which you wouldn’t have had before. It’s not terribly exciting! Were you expecting more?

No not really as I know ambient lighting package has lights everywhere in the car. How can you set them. I haven’t seen an option for that.

Ambient lighting on B8 models as a function of the interior light pack just enables the footwell LEDs while driving as far as I recall. It’s not like the B9 where they are, as you say, everywhere, and in different colours if you get the extended pack like I did.

Hi Dan, sorry to jump in, a little of topic. I have the B9 with the LED lighting pack (not extended) I have an issue whereby one area (passengers side centre console isn't lighting up). Didnt know if you maybe able to help. I've been to local dealership but they are saying nothing is wrong. My understanding is the only difference between the 2 is the extended pack offers colour changes but the non extended still covers the same lightening areas as the extended . Is this correct? Thanks in advance

Sorry to say I don’t have a definitive answer for you, as I only have experience of the extended light pack. I do think it is strange, if I understand you correctly, that you have light on the drivers side centre console but not the passenger side - seems odd to me, and I’d be asking the same question. My only advice would be to reach out here to other B9 non-extended LED owners and ask what the behaviour of their cars is.

sorry, but can I just clarify something because i'm not sure I understood correctly, I have the Led Interior Lighting Pack as standard, Illuminated door sill trims with S logo as an optional equipment and I have lights in the door cards for rear and back and in footwells as well and I can dim everything from the settings menu and I have the light in the glove compartment so does this mean I can make it change the colors with vcds? If so then anyone know how?

How do you enable these lights on the door panels and or keep them on while driving? I have the 19 and I dont see it in my settings
