After a 10 year break from owning a previous A5, I Just took purchase of my amazing 2009 A5 S line Special Edition Coupe 2.7 TDI and I'm smiling every time I drive it...

However having tried the A/C today, when pressing the A/C button the red line illuminates, but as soon as I release the light switches off
Adjusting the temperature to LO or 16 and set to Auto the fan speed appears to work fine... but its not getting cold, it looks like the Air Con isn't kicking in at all...

Any Suggestions or help on diagnosis would be appreciated?

Thanks

I had this. Ran a fault diagnostic which gave me an error code of something I can’t remember like unacceptable signal or something.

It’s a very common code that relates to the aircon pressure sensor which is located quite far down immediately next to the radiator.

It requires either a very deep socket or a crows foot spanner to change.

Many non oem versions cheap on eBay. You have to buy the right one, pref latest version and preferably oem.

Fixed my issue immediately.

I am not sure that an auto electrician will help you. You will better ask for the help of some specialists in this domain, and it will be more efficient. I understand what you are saying, and I also had an Audi, and I know such problems. There is a problem with your conditioner, and you should spot it as soon as possible. I tried to fix it myself, but I couldn't. Some friends recommended that I turn to spartamech.co.uk specialists. They helped me and fixed this problem for me. I recommend you to look for some specialists as soon as possible so that the problem disappears.

Common fault on Audi and will lightly to be air con pressure switch.
Easy to do on an A5 as you remove slam panel and the switch is next to the rad.
It is much harder on a b7 A4 as you have to take the headlight out.
Plenty of videos on YouTube to assist you if your unsure.
A quick scan on vagcom or obd 11 will confirm your fault.

I have this exact fault. Does this involve removing the front bumper to access?
I do have a AC fault appear when scanned.
I have no clue what to search for so would appreciate any link to Youtube please :)

No need to remove front bumper , just the plastic slam panel that covers the radiator.
Appreciate that and relived it does not involve bumper removal.

It was my 1st summer with the Audi and it was torture. The previous owner filled the gas only 6 months ago so feared it maybe a major part failure.
The code i have is 00256 and it points towards this sensor :)

Looks like it needs crowfoot spanner and rest looks simple.
