The S5 will always turn heads. The designer said it was the most beautiful car he ever designed. I have to agree. I honestly cannot think of a car that has a better combinations of lines, shapes and design elements to make the car look more elegant. Sure Mercs, Ferrari, and Porsches turn heads, but in my opinion, no cars from any of those companies are as coherent in design as the S5, which is why I absolutely love my car and am planning to keep it until the day I die.

The only better looking cars are Aston Martins. The DB9 is the best looking current production car on the planet.

+1

I love Astons. I fully intend on getting one in the future. In fact I considered a second hand Vantage before settling on the Audi instead.

I figured that servicing and running costs would be an issue on the Aston.

Well if you want an Aston they are falling in price like a stone!!
I work in vehicle finance and have been trying to get a client's 55 plate DB9 underwritten for the last couple of weeks.

He paid £117k for it three years ago and it books trade today at £66k. I have been bid anything between £43k and £50k for it!!!

Its a sign of the times!!

Also, speaking to a prestige car specialist last week he was saying that after Lehmans went pop 170 Ferraris were put up for sale within 2 days!!

Yeah I considered getting one after the Lehman debacle but I decided that I would go for something a bit more sensible in this economic climate and save my pennies for something better in a few years time.

By then I should have even more money saved and will be able to buy myself a newer Aston or something equally as stupid.

The running and other associated costs with having an Aston would be a bit much on top of the brand new mortgage we have. So head won out over heart this time.

We'll see.

I work in the financial industry too but the Lehman collapse, AIG buyout and so on actually help me as I work for the one of the industry Regulatory bodies.

I've had a 2007 V8 Vantage for two years now and love the car (I like it better than any of my previous Porsches and it is as good in a different way as my NSX's). No problems at all. Beautifully built and a pleasure to drive. The S5 is due in three weeks and will be my daily driver/winter car. I think it is the best value in a coupe under $80K.

I love all the Aston Martin's.. especially the DB9 but the vantage is just beautiful. I've never driven one but they're all just excellent, cohesive designs.

I've had my S5 since March and I agree that it IS the best value on the road for $60k (US) and one of those special cars that comes out every 10 years or so. Audi really proved their worth with this model.

PS, Oakville is a great place to live. I lived there while going to school way back in the late 80's.
