Can I just do the charisma two settings in green menu to get my ads on as I have MMI 3G high or do I still need to do the coding but first in vcds?

Does your A5 have "Drive select" (PR-2H1) as a build option ? ADS is mentioned in J519 (Address 09), Byte 7, bits 5 (Drive Select/Charisma installed) and 6 (Drive Select/Charisma via MMI/Car Menu), Byte 17 bit 7 (Customization for Drive Select/Charisma active), Byte 18 bit 7 (Personalization for Drive Select/Charisma); and J794 (Address 5F) Byte 8 bit 2 (Menu Drive Select active). So, yeah, you need to start there, first. --g

how do I find out my build options please? It has no buttons for it but I read that even without the buttons you can enable it and use the car menu to select it for use once un hidden it in the green menu and coding

Re build options, start with the service advisor at your local dealer -- it helps if you have a service relationship there. In our case, I obtained the build information for our '14 A4Q from erWin when I paid for the 24-hour subscription and downloaded service/repair manual PDFs when we bought the car in '17. I'm familiar with the Audi Enthusiasts site -- definitely some useful information published there. --g
