Anyone heard of this or have any suggestions:

Sometimes when I turn on the car it takes 10-20 minutes until the AC or Heat starts blowing on me. Everything seems to be functioning accept the cabin air blower. Any Ideas? Unforutnatly the audi dealer is 20 min away and twice now the AC has started working as soon as I pull into their parking lot!

If it is set to "Auto", then the fans will not run until the engine is at a sufficient temperature to heat the cabin to the selected temperature.

If you put the front screen heater on when you first start up the car does it fire up then?

update?

Any updates on this? Every once in a while my fan simply refuses to turn on. This isn't a major issue unless it's cold, in which case the car fogs up.

It always rights itself after a variable period of time. I hate going to the dealer with a problem that's intermittent......

Cost for Fan and Regulator Replacement

I just paid the attached amount of $1,416.78 to get the A/C blower fan and regulator replaced on my wife's S5. I have a feeling I was ripped off by the dealership, due to my previous experience with my R8, when they damaged all 4 rims when changing tires, because I think they are trying to make the money back. Can anyone confirm the cost of this? I know where the fan blower is, but I have no idea about the location of the regulator.

Any information would be highly appreciated!

i have a fix for this if you codes show something along the lines for blower motor B+ short to ground...
I have 2010 S5 4.2L
I noticed the blower motor works and stops working depending on bumps. Example, blower was working, I drove over some train tracks, it stops working. Will start working again 10-20 mins later. Also if it is running it pauses and starts again when the car is rattled. Seems like something is shorting or losing connection, or overheating, but I would your experienced input.

Can you please PM or Post fix for this. Thanks in advance.
Here is my Vag-Com log of the errors

Toronto area A 5 with the same blower fan issue problem , occasionally the cabin fan doesn't come on for 15-20 minutes , neither the manual or automatic setting will work the fan but it comes on by itself after a while . I followed this 2010 lewy 2x2m thread but any one out there with more on the topic ? Will a computer reboot help?

If your codes are like the one esquire posted, this is a somewhat easy fix. Just takes patience and $6usd(assuming you have tools and don't break anything)

You have to remove the blower motor housing.

Then dissassemble the housing to gain access to the blower motor. Now use the can of electrical cleaner/or MAF cleaner( don't use carb or brakecleen it doesn't dry quickly)

Then spray the motor to remove the carbon/graphite dust.

The reason this occurs is because the motor is a BRUSH motor which uses carbon/graphite rods to transmit electrical current to the stator. Since the motor is in an enclosed case. The dust accumulates and eventually causes a short... Hence the code. The second module code is a result of the first issue
