Hi All

13 plate s5 Remapped by mrc last year. Was all fine until I think I had a low battery and didn't get it changed fast enough!

Car was cranking for a second or more but I left it. One day the car went into limp mode and was throwing up a throttle body error and epc limp mode light.

Had a brand new throttle body fitted, managed to adapt it and now the same issue has come up after working fine for a while.

So the same issue is happening. I start the car sometimes and it runs fine in limp mode. Every other time, it starts up really rough with the stabilisation error coming up and start stop malfunction.

What do you guys think? Possibly an ecu issue?

Thanks in advance.

Had similar issue on RS5, did the throttle bodies (2 of them... Ouch $) and new battery

Before I finally resolved it I also did

1) Map sensor
2) fixed a vac leak at pcv line at intake

That said it can be anythings connected to the Pcm and even the Pcm itself.

Abs sensors, throttle sensor at pedal, transmission to pcm

Assumed you cleared all codes and checked uisng vcds to find out sequence of errors?

Thanks so much for the reply. Who fixed your car in the end?

So I start it up and it will be fine but in limp mode. When I start it for a second time, the ESC error message and start stop fault will come up and the car will run very rough.

These are the error codes I am getting:

Faults:
P154500 - Throttle valve control system Malfunction
Intermittent
P154500 - Throttle valve control system Malfunction
static
P012100 - Throttle/Pedal Pos.Sensor A Circ. Range/Performance
static
P022100 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch B Range/Performance
static
P156800 - Throttle valve control unit mechanical malfunction
Intermittent
P155900 - Throttle valve control unit Malfunction in basic settings
Intermittent

00471 - Electronic Damping Control Module Please read DTC
Intermittent

U101700 - ABS brake control module Read out DTC
Intermittent
U140000 - Function restriction due to insufficient voltage

Interesting, from what I know about those systems most of that is managed by the PCM, the throttle pedal position sensor (ie your accellration pedal module) may be a cause and is quite common.

Given that talks through the PCM to the electronic thottle valve, if the signal is not reading right then it cascades into other errors

eg Pedal sensor reading = garbage LEADS TO throttle controller not being able to determine right angle for butterfly plate LEADS to ABS not being able to do its job

usually presents a a serious of faults and EPC light on start up (ABS, Parking Brake, Stability Control lights) followed by rough running (if the throttle isnt getting right info).

But again anything in the PCM itself or things connected can cause these. Best bet is to get dealer to diagnose and test....be careful not to replace things unless they have performed voltage \ circuit tests and checked connectors and looms...otherwise youend up playing parts roulette at great cost.

I was lucky as it was a Throttle body controller fault (both one after the other, darn RS5 has 2 of them) and then a MAP sensor, but essentially could be a combination of things.
