A5 standard sound system

Have the same system in mine. Yeah, bass is pretty poor. I suspect, despite the literature, that it does not have a sub, as I can't find one and there is no MMI control for tuning up the sub-woofer level. I've learned to live with mine. I have the treble at mid position and bass full up. Remember, you will need to change the settings independently for all your sources (e.g. SD Media, IPod Media, CD Media, Radio, etc). I found that if you have treble on full it pisses the bass out (what there is!), so I find a much nicer sound with treble at midway and then increase the volume a bit, which helps the bass. Sorry, can't help out with mods to the sound system as I haven't done that before.

Yeah I have a sportback, so no fixed parcel shelf to accommodate a sub. Nowt under the boot floor or cubbys either. I’ve found a setting I like and I’m not a big audiophile, so I’m happy enough. Certainly didn’t feel throwing £1200 (actually it might have been more, I can’t quite recall) at the sound and comfort pack or whatever it was called was worth it for me. I stuck to the options that were important to me.

There is a few threads for missing subwoofer controls kicking around but I believe these are for the newer B9 range...

Any chance you can provide a link to one? I haven’t seen any on A5OC. TIA.

I’ve been under my spare tyre by the way. No sub that I could see. Just the main 12V battery and a smaller 48V lithium for the mild hybrid system.

Edit: Apologies, I correct myself. You are quite correct, there is a sub in the boot sat right next to the two batteries! I did not notice it before as it looks like a plastic moulding designed to hold the batteries, but it also houses a sub which usefully faces the two batteries! It would be nice if it worked! I’m really interested to see if there’s a way of getting the woofer level to show in the bloody MMI like the manual says it should.

Yup, I have a B9. Thanks for the link, I’ll check that out. My sub points directly at the batteries, and I’m wondering if they’ve deliberately disabled it so that it doesn’t cause cavitation in the battery fluid? I have to point out that I am a cynic and amateur conspiracy theorist!
