Hello,

just thought I would add some content as there was little to cover this online for the A5/B8 model.

All the tutorials online actually seem to only be for quattro 4WD which is a different breaing set up than front wheel drive spec vehicles only.

The rear wheel bearing is a job that can be done DIY at home.

no press required.

a handy tool setup is required though.

some useful pics.

please note abs sensor is flimsy so best to replace at the same time.

Also a valid time to replace dush shield which commonly corrode on these cars.

autodoc is good for parts if you can wait a little while and save some coins that way.

I knew before stripping that my bearing was done in so it was very easy to get off the centre once the axle bolt was removed.

Axle bolt is a 19mm hexagon bolt - use tamperproof ones as its a heavy duty torque on it - you will need a long breaker bar or air tools.

18mm socket for caliper bolts to release from the hub - put to side, star holder for brake disc into hub.

Small hex to remove bolt that fastening ABS speed sensor into the hub.

any questions ask away.
