Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me the true 0-100 km/hr statistic for the Audi A5 2.0 TFSI. I've heard multiple figures, from 6.9s to 8.1s. Here are the models, their 0-100 km/hr stat, and the sources:

2009 A5 2.0 TFSI
0-100 km/hr: 7.8s

2009 A5 2.0 TFSI Multitronic
0-100 km/hr: 8.1s
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=199826

2008 A5 2.0 TFSI
0-100 km/hr: 6.9s
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=190993

2008 A5. 20 TFSI quattro
0-100 km/hr: 6.5s

What's the deal here? It's so confusing! Why's the older model faster?
:help:

Even at the dealership the dealer quoted 8.1s but then in the official catalog that he handed to me, it states 6.9s.

Any help would be much appreciated.

There are two separate versions of the 2.0 litre engine, one pushing out 180ps and the other giving 211ps. The increased PS results in a faster 0-100kmh time, hence the difference in the timings. The 180ps version does 7.8 seconds, the 211ps does 6.9 seconds. these are timings for cars with manual gearboxes and for FWD cars.

The Multitronic is a pseudo automatic gearbox so its times are slightly down at 8.1 seconds, again with the manual gearbox with the 180ps engine.

The TFSI Quattro has the 211ps tuned engine, manual gearbox but as the drive goes to all four wheels, it can put its power onto the road more efficiently, hence the better times. The Quattro 211ps S- Tronic should produce an even better time than the manual.

Audi loves to gives us loads of choice, but you have to pay a higher price. Many people mod their basic 2 litre 180ps cars by chipping or remapping to get extra power without paying another £2000 that Audi demands. You pays your money and take your choice

Awesome, thanks a lot for the prompt and elaborate. That sure cleared things up! Is the 211PS version merely a tuned 180PS 2.0L engine? So with a little work the basic 180PS engine can put out similar performance to the 211PS version?

Yes, it's basically the same engine, but tuning can invalidate dealer warranties so you should be wary. I'm no expert but there are plenty of threads on this site about tuning, chipping and remapping. A good tuner should be able to guide you as to how much horsepower can be safely achieved before it starts to potentially damage the engine but certainly you should be able to go beyond 211ps without too much bother. The latest Audis have been more difficult to chip but the main tuning companies are working on this.

An example is this thread :

Hope this helps
