Hello, I recently bought a 2009 Audi A5 3.2 FSI QUATTRO. It has R17 wheels right now. I found on the internet, that R17 tires can either be 225/50 or 235/45. Which of these two dimensions is better for winter tires? Thank you in advance 🙏🏼

17 inch wheels? Are you sure? :) Thought the A5 came with 18s as standard? Especially on a V6, maybe, possibly on a 1.8?

I would go with the taller sidewall and thinner width, only because it is said that it is better having thinner tyres for snow driving. If it's just cold climates, then either. :)

See below for size comparisons

I'm running 17" 245/45's for my winter tires. 19" wheels in the summer. 2009 A5 S-line Quattro 3.2L.

I went with R17 225/50 winter tires and haven't had any issues except one.. my car looks and feels very low, like too low. Even my mechanic noticed it. I got info about my car and it seems it came with R18 from the dealership and also I have Audi Drive Select and S-Line trim (Outside and suspension) so maybe my car shouldn't run with R17 but I'll put on R18 or even R19 when the summer comes haha

Like I said earlier, I didn't think the A5 came with 17 inch wheels. But then a larger side wall should be fitted to keep the same overall circumference.
