So I replaced my radiator for the second time in the last 5 years. Bad luck I guess.
the first time I didn’t add transmission fluid and everything worked fine.
I remember researching and reading it was a sealed transmission.
But I feel like I should at least top it off. How do I top it off or make sure the proper amount of trans fluid is in the transmission?

Mate but er what has the radiator got to do with the transmission please??? Perhaps I missed something.....The auto transmission fluid does need changing and/or topping up yes (despite what Audi tell you). My old 3.2 started to change badly and a mate told me to top up the fluid, he has a fleet of luxury rental cars so I trusted him (I initially thought that the auto slushbox was on its way out). Wow, what a difference, the car became lovely to drive again!!!!

The radiator has an oil cooler built in and oil lines go into it. I am assuming it’s a transmission oil cooler but could be wrong maybe it’s engine oil?

Yes, the auto gearbox is cooled via the coolant, but why, as Simon says, do you want to now check the gearbox oil level? Which radiator did you replace?

Yes the ZF 6HP 28 is sealed for life, but ZF say to replace the oil every 75k miles.

Anyway, Put the car on stands or lift making sure the car is level. Start engine and warm the gearbox oil to about 35-40 degrees C. Also with brake pressed, go through D, R, N etc to get the mechatronics pumping. Then when at 35 deg, with engine running, undo the box sump plug (the big black one in the middle, not the small silver plug in the corner of the sump) as this has an insert that only allows the correct oil level or to check it. If none comes out, add some oil (I'm guessing you have the ZF 6HP 28 6 speed auto as you have the Quattro?). You will need Lifeguard 8 green oil.

The FWD 3.2 is a multi-tronic 8 speed gearbox.
