Are you sure? Side assist is not mentioned in the copy of the 2008 order guide that I received when I ordered my S5 in December (the order guide sheet that I have is dated September 2007). I also checked the A5/S5 sales brochure, and it lists Audi Side Assist as an option, but with "delayed availability." I wonder if they ever did introduce it to the US?

Yes, it was snuck in around early November I think. I updated my order after that happened and I now have it in my A5. Cool feature that I wanted, so I monitored it until it appeared.

I talked to my dealer because I have a allocation date of June/July with a car that just went into production. He told me that those options won't be available for the 1st batch or so of the 2009's.
Do they usually do that?????

I got allocated yesterday and my salesperson added drive select last night and should be one of the first June production S5's.

Well, I guess this answers the Gas Guzzler charge for Tiptronic S5 question. Looks like it will get one too, probably just less of one. Maybe $1000 instead of $1300?

Nope. Member pcjasper confirmed yesterday that the S5 Tip does not include a gas guzzler tax.

When creating your reply message, click on the button that looks like a paper clip. When you click on the paper clip button, another window "Manage Attachments" will open up. In that window, click on the "Browse" button and then locate the desired PDF file that is stored on your computer. Once you've attached the file, click "Close this window" and you will be returned to the original window where you were composing the reply message.

The system allows PDFs of up to 2 Megs - so if it's larger than that you're going to have to try something ese. Perhaps use GoogleDocs to share it.

2009 S5 Price increase = +3%

Guys -

Not sure if you got a copy of Viper's complete 2009 Audi Order Guide (thanks vip), in that guide it lists the 2009 MSRP for the Audi R8!

The R8 went from a base price (6-sp manual) of $109,000 to $112,500 which is an increase of 3.2%

While the R8 is not the S5, the R8 is even more rare and could easily have handled a larger price increase.

Therefore, I'm betting the base MSRP price of the S5 comes in at +3% also... like my dealer told me. That's $1500 increase on the 6-sp manual.
