Hey guys,

So the S5 was in for service and MOT yesterday and Audi flagged up quite the list of issues... and said they are MOT failures until I questioned it more (damn stealerships!)

Anyway, they flagged up for the third year running that one shock is leaking, gearbox seals may be leaking, sump leaking oil and corroded and a few other minor things.

Basically I'm thinking if it's worth fixing (and upgrading the shocks) or do I just fix as needed and start saving for a new one?

94k miles, bodywork is great for age (a few stone chips but not much else).

Also could do with recommendations for garages in the Gloucestershire area to do any upgrades etc. And for mot and service.

Surely the sump is either a gasket, or plug o-ring?
The shock is anything from £60-90
Gearbox seals - dunno.

I guess it depends on how long you want to keep the car

Rich me old fruitcake you need a good INDEPENDENT VAG guy to look after your car!!! The officials are a bunch of criminals for sure. EASY fixes and not very expensive at all, that car will drive another 200 to 300k miles!!!!

That's the plan to be honest.

Had been waiting for the speed related noise to be sorted for 2 years, turns out it was a bearingblike I told them 2 years ago... but now I know it's not diff related or anything nasty it's time for that tune up, milltek non res, android auto upgrade, poss wheels etc.

Fortunately I know a guy from like 20 years back who now has a successful remapping/tuning business so I guess we need a catch up and to spend that 5k audi wanted on some performance upgrades.

However, I am tempted to spend that 160 and get audi to change the 3rd brake lighr, that thing is a right pain in the ass to get off!

Cheers guys.
