Costing Stage 2 Advice

First of hello to all as my first post,

Just taken a late 2012 S5 3.0V6T for a toy lots of info for remapping and stages and as my last car had 510Hp so you assume correct that the S5 will be upped soon.

It will go Stage 2, 1+ etc. depending on who I use.

The question is can someone give some rough costings for this from the different companies. (i don’t expect people to revile what they paid but a guide)

ECU, Gearbox, Pulley (SC or Main TBC) upgrade it seems 2k marks is this correct for all three of the tuners below? or any better options UK don't mind driving.

Recommended Guide prices for
REVO
MRC
APR

These seem to be the three main players from what I have read.

MRC prices on their website, think you have to look at the S4.
http://www.mrctuning.com/index.php/a...ns/audi-s4-b8/

Stage 2 £1591
Gearbox remap £600, though when done at the same time as stage 2 they charged me £250, instead £500 back in 2016.

If you want an MRC badge they sell them as an extra for £15 last time I checked. Decided I didn't need to pay for their advertising

Based on looking around;

Stage 1
Remap ~£500
TCU Remap (needs doing with ECU remap) £150+
= around 450bhp

Stage 2(+)
Pulley upgrade, depending on size(s) = 480bhp+ (£300-500)
Air intake - £150+
Exhaust - X-pipe £280
System £1500-3000

Stage 3
Bigger throttle body as far as I know only APR are supplying these. (£1100+
Upgraded charge cooling system £1000
500-525bhp

All power figures depend on mapper's map, fuel rating.
Also no labour prices

Basically you can get a reliable 480ish bhp, but pushing above 500bhp require a big step up in cost.

Then you'll need to stop the car, so may be brake upgrade. A good starting point is performance pads like Ferrodo DS2500 for £350 for all 4 corners. Then more would be upgrading discs to grooved/drilled/dimpled etc or 2 piece discs, then big brake kits like Brembo or AP.

Thanks Guys

Im glad it reduced for the gearbox as 600 is high compared to others than MRC for this.

The Xpipe i have not thought about would it increase it that much in HP over the extra noise in the cabin?

Stage two or so is all i want the extra power is not woth the cost IMO

The X-pipe add a bit of zing to the exhaust note and sound. The 'X' is supposed to be a performance enhancer as the exhaust pulses can interchange to either exhaust side expelling the exhaust gases quicker, in theory. But the X-pipe is situated under the rear seats and in my opinion, thats a bit to close to the end of the exhaust to benefit. But I'm buying it for the sound rather than performance. The standrad system is supposed to be good with a full £XXXX system produce about 8bhp more!

Really unless there is a lot of custom mapping going on, the remap prices are quite expensive. The TCU remap is a bit more generic as I'm not sure most remappers have messed with them too much.

Yep Stage 2 and about 470-480bhp should be plenty, unless you are really chasing the extra ponies for points down the pub.

Hi my advice would be call each mapper individually and discuss prices with them.
The price you see on there websites is different to when you pay hard cash.
As regards mods the X pipe is well worth having for the price of 4 tanks of fuel imho. Also not mentioned on here lately is the billet transmission mount. 034 do one but panda racing do the exact copy for a 3rd of the price and it helps when you use launch control,as the std item is rubbish
Personally I would use a custom map as opposed to a generic map but the choice is yours.
Revo,MRC,APR ,More BHP are all reputable companies offering products to cater for all
I have used Mrc on 5 occasions and am currently enjoying the switchable pops/bangs/crackle on my stage 2

If everything seems to be 'under control',your not driving fast enough

Hi Dave I did not want something that was popping and banging when cruising down the motorway,so they have altered the map so that when the car is in dynamic mode it pops and bangs on hard acceleration and also on the downshifts. Not tacky Ak47 style but more like unburnt fuel pops/bangs and very noticeable. 😎

Ah, so you need drive select and the mapper can alter the map so it's selectable within drive select?

You can also have an exhaust valves fitted to make it loud when you want to. Switched with remote control.

Unfortunately I cannot post links yet.

Do you have a link to the panda racing mount?
Is it a hobby/DIY install or does it need a proper ramp?

Hi Panda racing have sold out and it wont let me post the link and item number.
However this one from darkside developments is exactly the same thing and does the same job: https://www.darksidedevelopments.co....rm-models.html

Dead easy to install or give you local garage a drink takes 5 mins . I used red loctite on the threads to make sure it wont move.

Where is the best place to source the xpipe as I’d have to get this on before the map and I agree I’ll give a ring around for best price, hoeing MRC will do me a good deal but it will come down to price as the three main maps seem ok on cars running them..
