They seem to be really bright! I bought a set last year and by now the red is nearly gone, but you can only see them in near enough complete darkness or is yours oem? As i went for something cheap and cheerful 😉

Apologies for the upside down photo!!

This was taken at dusk, so not completely dark and they have good light output!

They are just cheap 6 quid jobbies off Ebay!!

I was concerned at first as the passenger side read the wrong way, but realised the LED projector rotates so you can choose any angle of projection!

I thought they may look crap considering the price, hope they don't fade, but at 6 quid can't complain.

Maybe they are a man thing!? Maybe I should get another set and replace the vanity mirror light with one on the passenger side and t'other'alf can S5 across her forehead!

I like ‘em. Had some Audi rings ones on my previous B8.5. I thought they had faded after a while; but I discovered they get real dirty as they’re outboard from the inner door seals, and need a good clean every now and then. Can’t fit them to the B9 as they don’t have them in the same place. Have downlights on door handles instead. Don’t really mind though as they have the illuminated scuff plates as standard also.

Just pop them out of the door and grab the, erm... shaft of the LED projector, so use index finger and thumb and just twist.

I could just about see them a bit in the daylight, but out of the sun, you can see them and that picture was taken about 9pm, so not completely dark.

They came with my S5, the genuine ones are really bright and do work as puddle lights.

It is probably the most commented on feature! One lady said she had to have them on her A5 Cabriolet and has since fitted them.

The puddle light rings I purchased from a guy on the AudiWorld forum.

The mats are just the all weather ones you can find on the internet for about $80 USD (Part Number: 8W7061221A041).

I thought the projector puddle lights were a Chinese thing, like the illuminated rings on the grille!? Didn't know they were OEM too!!

Mine do seem bright, but time will tell if they fade. I could see them in the daylight on the drive, but out of direct sun.

I added a set of Audi rings from ebay. They work well enough, but the light is very blue-white so the rings are almost purple. Wasn't 'exactly' the look I wanted, so I ordered 5000K (pure white) LEDs to swap in, but of course when those LEDs show up they are more like 3500K! (slight yellow-white).

Going to live with that for a while and see what I think. May go ahead and try for a set of 5000K LEDs yet!

Sure;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-LED-...72.m2749.l2649

Also note they are CREE LEDs, these are a lot more reliable than std LEDs. I always buy CREE now after having normal diode types and they faded and went purple! Just got some front fog CREE H11s.

Just ordered a set of the linked ones, will post comparison with the super crap ones that I already have. Hopefully they're brighter, and not so blurry.

How difficult a mod is this for a car than doesn't currently have puddle lights?

My brain is not damaged but in need of some repair

You will need to add wiring into door. Not sure what is there as standard, sometimes Audi will have the wiring there, just not the lamp holder/unit.

You will have a red reflector on the end of the door and just a rectangular recess where the puddle light goes. There are kits to do this, I nearly did it on my 3.0TDi.
