Here's my S5

Picked it up Saturday morning, but went away to Harrogate for the long weekend, so I could give a good run!

Averaged 39mpg on the way there and was up in the 40s on the way back!! All in all impressive mpg for a supercharged 3.0 V6!!
Similar figures to my 3.0tdi!! I just have to be a lot more gentle with the S5 to achieve those figures! The 3.0TDi was easier to get those figures consistently.

Few questions;
The air con bar in the DIS display, is this adjustable or does it just show the current output?
I've connected my phone to bluetooth, but now everytime I get in and out, I get a text message saying, it looks like you've changed your SIM!?

Also what is the writing under the bonnet?

Lovin it so far, but I don't think I'm going to see high 30s mpg due getting it to DSG fart all the time!!!

Also had a little mess, took the silenced intake pipe off and went for a little drive to hear the charger whine!!

Put my name down for an ECS X-pipe and ordered the wheel spacers, oooh and the LED projector puddle lamps with S5 on them!

As for the writing on parts in the engine bay. Iíve seen used parts from breakers being tagged in various ways. Hopefully nothing to worry about but did you do a car history check to ensure itís not been accident damaged. Though could have been minor enough not to show on those database. Suggest you have a good look around the front end to ensure itís all straight and youíve not been mis-sold.

However, now is the time for only happy thoughts! The car looks sensational, Dave, and Iím stuck somewhere between ďhugelyĒ and ďmassivelyĒ jealous.

It's HPI clear, bought it from a reputable dealer. If they were scrappy parts, the dealer would be a bit daft to leave them on? I'm going to rub the writing off, but thought I'd ask first. I have seen writing on covers when some sort of service has been done!?

Thanks Julian! It does look nice, especially if you peer into the car and see the contrasting 2 tone leather S5 seats!

It has had a transmission service, but I'm not sure they change the diff oils as I get the Quattro rumble when doing tight turns! Luckily I have saved some of my special juice, so that will be injected in, probably when I fit the X-pipe!

Does anyone know if when you have a DSG service, they change the diff oils too?

I can't immediately think of what you mean by "air con bar", can you take a photo?
You may need to check all the setting in the telephone part of the MMI. Does the car have its own SIM slot?

Do you mean in the display that shows energy consumption? It goes up the more things you turn on, The climate control unit (fan blower), then actual aircon, heated seats, heated mirrors and so on.

Yes it has a SIM slot and 2 SD card slots. I'll check the settings again. I guess I have set it up for the MMI to use my SIM rather than run through my phone.

You have me worried now, but at least it's not a private sale, I'll go back and request a refund if it turns out to be something serious!

Just done the vcheck and it only comes back with a plate change which corresponds with the dealer's HPI check.

Looking at the history, the car was sold through Audi Approved used previously.

Just wondering if the NVC writing on the engine cover means New Vehicle Check!? I'm going to call the previous to Audi dealers that the car went through to see if they can add to the 'history' or if they know what this writing is.

I think the car was a demonstrator as the first owner acquired the car 3 months after first registration, or it was a pre-reg!?

Yes, but as far as I can see, but I may need to press some more buttons, it does just show Air-con output.

I must have missed this energy consumption display - I have no idea what you guys are discussing.

If the car has its own SIM then it is capable of making phone calls either via it, or using your phone via BT. I just use my car SIM for MMI updates (e.g. Google maps and so that I can send destinations to my SatNav from my PC). Maybe yours is set up so that it is switching between the car SIM and your phone, hence the message?

Yeah, if you press the reset button on the underside of the wiper stalk it will go through another several DIS displays.

There is no SIM in the slot, but I think you are right, the car keeps taking control of the SIM in my phone hence my phone giving me message of a changed SIM. I'll have to have another look at the setup!

Spoken to Cardiff Audi and found my car was an ex demo for 3 months.

Gave it a good clean over weekend!!

Also the NVC I think is New Vehicle Check. When cleaning it, the same white paint was dotted on the brake fluid reservoir cap, coolant expansion tack cap, oil filler cap, so it looks like somewhere someone has done a check and ticked it off on the actual car rather than a check sheet!?

Love the dual tone leather, looks good especially with white, all you need now is some nice 20" black wheels and youre looking smart as shit 😄
As for the energy consumption, there is one menu where it shows what your car is consuming in terms of petrol when you turn on ac, seats, heating for windows etc.

I know, really love the 2 tone leather!!

Also something that I noticed after buying the car is that it isn't just normal white (I thought it was Ibis white), it's Glacier metallic white! Looks really nice in the sun close up!

Hm, from pictures it looks ibis, i believe glacier is somewhat more deep and near enough greyish. Some people prefer glacier, me - ibis for sure, just looks like white rather than muddy white 🙂

I had a glacier 3.0TDI briefly. Certainly wasnít greyish or muddy. Was a very crisp pearl white with a bluish tint in the sunshine.

Its a bright pearl white and you have to go up close to see the metallic in the paint.

The Suzuka grey looks white with a metallicy silver/grey.
