New S5!

Hi everyone, I'm Jake, from Boston MA. Just bought a 2016 S5 with 6sp manual. Love it beyond wildest expectations so far!

Thank you sir! I traded in my 2011 STi, and I'm not disappointed with the S5 acceleration and handling at all. I'm not sure if it's actually faster than the STi, but it's got low-end, instant torque. Really fun, and nice to have no need to shift out of 6 to accelerate on the highway.

Love the STi as well, but a 3.0 litre V6 with manual shift and 333 bhp to play with will be gorgeous. What you get with Audi is quality, it’s just a different build. What colour have you chosen, any mods? Upload some photos of your S5 please.

Absolutely. The STi is like riding in a tin can compared to the S5. And don't get me wrong, I loved the STi. But there's no comparing the overall build.

I'm brand new here, how do I upload pics? My avatar is the new car, for what it's worth.

Stunning motor! Your alloy wheels are mint! 20”? They really look good on the coupe. Only 1 problem I see, you’ve bought a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side 🙈

Thank you very, very much!

Yes, 20x9" wheels, wearing 265/30R20's all around.

The car came off a 3 year lease, with no accident history, but the dealer did say they had repaired the wheels.

I'm not surprised someone probably curbed them a bit, but I'm glad they're mint now!

What about you, friend? Is that an RS5 in your pic? Are there a lot of Audis in Scotland?

Jake, yes there is an RS5 in my life, if you read my previous threads, I had a 2010 2.0TDi S-Line which I purchased in 2013 but I knew I longed for an RS5. The coupe body is just beautiful so I put together a 5 year savings plan to get one. Audi obviously stopped making the B8.5 RS5 in 2015 as they developed the latest model. Anyway I always kept an eye on the market and the right one with the spec I was looking for became available in October last year. The 4.2 Litre V8 is amazing, that’s why I say your love affair with your V6 is just beginning. Here’s my pride and joy that loves to drink the 99 Ron fuel.
To answer your question, yes Audi is quite popular in Scotland rivalled by the BMW and Merc. I believe the US limited the intake of RS5’s with you so your S5 might be really quite exclusive in Boston MA?

Thank you, Smokey Joe, and thanks again MrFergus. Congratulations on finding your RS5! It's great when a plan, long in the making, turns out so successfully. Well done! There are lots and lots of S5s here in Boston, but nearly none with a manual. I looked for a long time for a 2016 (last year offered with a manual here) with low miles. When this one turned up, I jumped on it.

How is it with the manual box? We can only get them with the S-tronic here in the UK which personally I love, but it'd be nice to try a manual as a comparison. Yeah MrFergus has the cleanest RS5 I've seen and its only getting better. Looks like your S5 is on its way to detailers perfection too.

Oh I love it with the stick. It's the only S5 I've driven, so I can't offer any comparison. But I can say the clutch is very natural, good take up position right in the low to middle range of stroke. Medium weight (my STi was considerably heavier and more fatiguing). Shifter is crisp as anything I've ever driven, with somewhat long throws. I might look into a short-shifter kit, if such a thing exists (I'll search these forums before asking!) Yes that RS5 is beautiful, from what I can see! What about you, Joe? Is there an Audi in your stable?

There certainly is, it's the same as yours. Only S-tronic. 👍
Oh yeah and the steering wheel on the right side. 😁
