Question 2009 Audi A5 Auto Gearbox snaggles

Hi,

I was wondering if this version of the Auto 'Box installed in the 2009 has had any known problems?

Iíve noticed on mine, if i drive in a sporty manner whilst the selector is in D, my gearbox changes become much snappier, and often change down at much higher speeds, even after Iíve started driving sedately.

normal gear changes up and down when in D:

1-2 (4mph up / 3mph down)

2-3 (17mph up / 7mph down)

3-4 (26mph up / 24mph down)

when the issue arrises its more like this:

1-2 (12mph up / 9mph down)

2-3 (21mph up / 19mph down)

3-4 (28mph up / 26mph down)

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue - its rather irritating when having to join traffic quickly, then slowing to approach a roundabout 5 mins later. Occasionally, this issue arises when Iím on the Míway, and only becomes apparent when Iíve left and Iím driving through 30mph regions. Problem is usually resolved (2 out of 3 times) by turning the engine off, removing the key and re-starting.

maybe the mechatronic is trying to analyse the way you drive and if you drive with a heavy foot it thinks you need to really fast gear changes and high downshifts, but then again as soon as you go back to driving normally it should adjust accordingly, do you have the s-tronic or the multitronic?

Multitronic,

Does this have the driver analysis software in it?

max2ksr, have you not got the 7-speed S-tronic box?

[QUOTE=max2ksr;910210]Multitronic,

If you have a 3.0tdi you wont have the mulitronic auto box in it. If you have 6 gears you have a normal auto box 7 gears its an s-tronic.

definitely a 6 speed tiptronic on that car. I had a 2010 car with the same gearbox.

Sounds like it's doing a regen or it's adapting to your driving but not very well.

I found the gearchanges got more clunky after a heavy right foot session. it would take about 5 mins or before going back to normal smooth changes.

Have you got drive select on that car ?
