Audi A5 2.0TFSI Shaking/uneven idle

Hello.

My 2009 Audi A5 2.0TFSI has a weird shaking/uneven idle. The problem is that the RPMs does not change but I can feel it shaking in my seat. I do not feel this shaking while I drive. Might it be a bad tune? I have no idea where it was tuned as this was done of the previous owner. Also there is no check engine light.

There may be lots of reasons.

First of all go to authorised audi service. Check with computer.

Pcv may be broken?

I've heard about the PCV that could be broken. Do you know how to check this? Will it show up in the computer?

it may not be seen on the computer but an expert knows how to diagnose the pcv. Just make him check the pcv physically.

There may also be lots of other things....

But the best thing is to go to a authorised service asap.

Positive crankase ventilation valve, or PCV valve.
Personally I would be more inclined to be looking at a possible knackered engine mount.

Slightly related question, why would a duff PCV make it shake? That doesn't add up to me.

Pcv can fail in two different ways.
1- open situation which can cause shaking on idle
2- closed situation which will pressurize the crankcase and blows the rear main seal. The weakest point.

I understand the what, but not why? If it fails open, surely it's venting to atmosphere. The pressure should be fine

Nope it vibrates because of unbalanced pressure.
