Seats swapping questions

Hi on Friday morning I was in a car accident and to cut a long sorry my car was written off but I’ve found a new a5 the new one has manual seat adjustment but is brown leather so I was wondering how big a job it would be to swap my old seats that are electric moving in to a car that comes with manual seats many thanks

The installation of the seats/interior themselves is fairly easy, the electrics however require some consideration as you will most likely need a different BCM and will need to run additional wiring from the BCM to the seats themselves.

In summary, not impossible but requires a fair bit of work to get everything working as per OEM.

If you search you'll find others have done a similar swap. From memory, if you have some sort of electricity going to your seat (e.g. heated or lumbar support) then Audi most likely fitted their universal loom from factory. Others have done this and it's been plug and play for them. You might want to keep hold of your old seat module in case you run into component protection.

I recently bought a set of electrical seats, swapped the frames and refitted my half leather interior onto the electrical ones. Took me about 2.5hrs per seat so 10hrs in total...

Hi,
Ive bought the same as you some seats ready to swap over the leather from mine to the new frames. Could you tell me if there was any problems with the memory ecu as the seats I bought are from a 2008 and my cars a 2015. I know the frames are the same from 08-16

Cheers

I don't think you'll have any pb...
But... you never know, so given that getting the seats in and out is a 10mins job, and just to be sure, before getting into painful cuts and bad language territory, I'd suggest plugging the replacement seats in to check that everything's ok, and only then start the covers swap process...

Hey guys. My car is 2008 and was cloth manual seats, very badly worn when I bought her. I bought a set of leather seats with electrical controls from a scrap car and I dont know the age of this donor car so we swopped over and I assumed that they would be manual adjustment in my car. Well we found connectors under the carpet, plugged in and to our suprise the new seats worked and moved correctly using the seat buttons!!! So give it a try, you never know. Good luck.
