2Bennett has finally scheduled my Brembo brake installation for this Friday!
I've been waiting months as they were verifying the hats on the 2pc. rotors would clear. They completed one installation on an S5 in Feb. and no issues with clearance. Specs: Stage2 GT is now a standard 2B package for '98 & later S4, A4 '02&later, A6 Biturbo & 4.2, A8 $2280. Stage2 GT Packages are 2B systems featuring 350mm (13.8") rotors and 6 piston Brembo calipers. The standard color option is silver with all Audi body colors available for an additional $250 per pair. Stage2 GT Packages Include (off their website):
Will take pics if they'll let me, of the installation.

The brakes have been installed but not without some drama.
When I got over to 2Bennett, around 9:40AM, they started immediately to size up the 6 piston Brembo's and discovered very quickly that the S5's carrier is completely different! They could NOT get the correct alignment when mounted... the rotor just interfered. The best we can determine is the S5 simply doesn't use the same carrier as the A5. Since the hat on the rotor is the only variable, we were almost going to just call it right there but there was one option, and this one bumped the price up another $600. Their "Stage2 RS" brake system. The alignment was exact but the rotor is now 365mm and the caliper, 8 piston. We mocked it on the car and it lined up perfectly, however, when we placed the OEM wheels back on, they would not clear. The only thing they had in stock were 15mm hub-centric spaces from H&R. This is $75 a pair but if I wanted to get this done, this would have to go in. OH, and just to be sure my day was complete, they had no lugs bolts that were just the right length; mine would be too short with the spacers. The answer: lugs. So now I need 20 lugs and 20 19mm nuts. I won't get into the final "bump" in cost, but I will say it was substantially more since the RS kit is $1,000 more than my original GT kit. In any event, Andrew Bennett gave me discounts for being patient and essentially allowing my A5 as a test bed on what will work on the A5. So without further delay, here are the pics: Mock up (note the spacer is also mounted): ![]() 8 Pistons; note diameter differences; this system uses 4 pads per caliper. ![]() 365mm, "cast" holes, not drilled. ![]() Yikes, my car is pretty damn dirty. ![]() ![]() ![]()

They look fabulous - now you just need a matching rear set-up!

Thanks.
On the way home, it seemed still a bit too spongy; but I was on a tight timeline. I was hoping they'd be done installing everything by about 2-2:30PM allowing ample time to bleed the system but we didn't get the car done until about 4:00PM. I had guests coming to my home around 6:00PM and the drive from my home and 2Bennett is 2 hours. I feel I own that problem so I will do a thorough bleed later this month. However, I can already tell that despite the spongy feel, the calipers and rotor combo stops the car much quicker given the same pedal pressure. These are "street" pads of unknown compound. I will need to get more specifics from them later. I heard "Pagid" being thrown around so I don't know if Pagid has a street pad. This morning, I found a few drops of brake fluid on the floor! I jacked up the car and inspected everything. From where the car was positioned, it appears it came from around the SS brake lines, right around the point where the lines make a 90 deg. bend toward the rear of the car before ending up on the caliper's banjo bolt. At first I was apprehensive but I realized that maybe the fluid was trapped in the layer of spiral vinyl that was wrapped around the SS lines. I was watching one of the workers doing this and asked why he needed to wrap the vinyl but he said it was standard procedure. US DOT standards I believe want some type of protective covering over the SS braid. So I surmised the fluid was trapped in the vinyl and overnight, gravity took it's course and fluid ended up on the floor. I used brake clean everywhere along the line and tried to absorb as much stuff as possible so I will keep an eye out on this side. I did put a couple of wrenches to the upper mount of the SS line and there was virtually no extra "give" while attempting to tighten it so I don't believe there is any real leak at this time. I checked the banjo bolt and not single drop of anytyhing so that's good. Hoping to take a lot of the slop out of the brakes.

Nice brakes man! I had a Stoptech BBK installed on my Rx8 and I had noticed some brake fluid had dripped onto my wheels over the next few days. I took it back to the installer and it turned out to just be everything settling from the install, bedding, break in etc... After they cleaned it up I never noticed the fluid again so hopefully yours is from the same thing and all is well!

I have never seen the TTRS installed on an S5, do you have details? Currently I have a set of these brakes at a special sale price for the TT and A3 models, however if confirmed to fit the S5 I'd be happy to offer them up here as well. Cheers, |

Very interesting, thank you much for details. I would have assumed the machining was needed for the center bore of the rotor. I am just surprised the offset is the same, very interesting indeed.
Well may have to offer up a set if anyone is interested... Cheers, |
