Hello,
I am a laydeee. I have a bizzare problem in that people in white vans and lorries and sometimes cars, keep flashing their lights at me. I assume that they are showing appreciation for my S5 which is of course, one sexy car. It is starting to bug me though as I keep having to check one of my LED's is not out but no, no problems I can see. Being Sprint Blue it is eyecatching but I just can't work out why it's happening. Are they trying to tell me I shouldn't have lights on because in that case they can keep on till they're blue in the face; I am not turning off my running lights as you know they come on automatically and I'm not going to change it so they don't switch on just to please other people. Any advice as to how to discourage this as it's starting to make me paranoid! ![]() |

...It's because you're a laydee in a very nice car. They flash their lights because you wouldn't hear them whistle!

I get that a lot. It's because people either
A) think you have left your lights on. B) think you have your lights on high-beam. Also, if you don't get an answer within four hours, don't sweat it, this is a pretty laid back forum really. Welcome to the forums though ![]()

S5lass would you class yourself as a hot piece of ass? If so there are countless white van men and others that would as well! I drive 100's of miles a day and it makes my day when i see a hot chick in a very nice car- and if i smile along side her on motorway and she smiles back i'm happy for a week! If you class yourself as a bit ropey i'd go with the 'your lights are on mate' option!

I'd suggest it might well be "Lady in nice car" syndrome as well. As said, if your high beam isn't on (and it won't be unless you've put it on - the S5 doesn't activate it next time if you leave it on when you switch the ignition off), could it be that you've got a headlight out of alignment and one seems like a high beam to oncoming traffic?
I mention this possibility because I've just had a headlight replaced in the RS 6 (LED running light fault, known issue recall) and they've set it a bit high and so the last two nights I've been flashed by all and sundry. Unless it's because all of a sudden I look like a hot chick in a big grey estate car?

![]() Ropey? I just asked my husband and he laughed and said oh it's definetly not that darling. I used to model at wedding shows in my early twenties and although having two kids takes their toll on ones looks I am still rocking longish blond hair and a nice coca cola bottle figure (the figure of 8 ones as opposed to giant sausage shape bottle mind). I just didn't think it would be so brazen I suppose. Sorry if I sounded bossy coz there wasnt a reply - I thought I had said something taboo! When/if it happens again I will not get into a flap ![]() Maybe I should replace my avatar with a real pick and you can give me your feedback good or bad ![]() Thanks xx |

The S5 is Mrs B's car really, though she also loves the RS 6, and had an allroad before the S5. She's a 5'7" size 8 blonde, and she gets a lot of slack-jawed looks in the S5 and a lot more double-takes in the RS 6, and when she had the allroad. I keep telling her they're just looking at the car though - don't want her head getting too big to fit in the S5! ![]()

A sexy lady in a sexy car is the ultimate- much better than a lady that drives around in a beat up old motor that doesn't care what she drives or what she does to the car! Shame you haven't got the cabriolet- as you could have gone topless ! (all groan !!!)

Oh, I know all about the dress size thing, mainly because it's so hard to find anything that actually fits properly - she could sometimes do with a 10 "up top" but a 6 round the waist and an 8 otherwise. French labels often fit better, as they're still designed for a curvy figure at all sizes, though Coast stuff often fits pretty well. Anyway, enough of that - there's gruff blokey stuff to be done, like wrestling bears, moving small mountains with my bare hands and staring out stampeding bulls. Or perhaps I'll just open a beer and grunt a bit.

I reckon its because they think you have left your lights on.
I had some cheap fat chav give me the finger last year and called me an f'ing nazi as she passed me on the other side of the road (no justification for it). Must get a nicer crowd where you are

I doubt that said chav had the mental capacity to link DD's (no reference to your rack S5lass, just a colloquial abbreviation we use for Doubledoom) motor's origin to her choice of insult. Probably simply the full extent of her repertoire. It was in Lowestoft, after all (wherever that is.....)

I'm a bit upset now. I received a private message which seems really quite cruel: 'Great posts, just love the way some guys are falling into the 'honey trap'... keep up the good work before someone accuses you of being RGBArgee in drag..;-) Just to make things clear, I am a real female person, just over 30, NOT in drag (although nothing wrong with that if it floats yer boat), attractive so I'm told, I have no honey trap for anyone to fall into as I'm happily married, I love fast cars with a passion, and yes sometimes cheeky banter as it is fun and life can be dull at times, especially always talking technical about our cars. So if anyone has a problem with any of that then don't read my posts I guess. Life's too short! Not sure if I'm coming back as that message made me cry and I was smiling on here before ![]() |

Yeah, well said. Let's keep this clean and sensible guys. No need for abusing the system...
S5Lass - hope you not too offended by someones stupidity. Enjoy the car and hopefully enjoy the forum, which for me is a very helpful and informative place to visit. |

Sounds to me like you know far too much about your wife's vital statistics! Besides, everyone knows that women really struggle to buy "off the peg" in the UK. Different makes = different sizes regardless of what the label says and the American and European sizing just serves to confuse the issue even further. And most women are wearing the wrong size bra too! OMG, I seem to have developed an oestrogen imbalance!!! ![]()

At 17 shouldn't you been down the pub or whatever for entertainment instead of listening to the ramblings of pre-menstrual HPOA? (thanks to Howdi Audi for the new acronym).
Well put a brew on and grab some popcorn it could get even better :-) |

I must say, think it's about time we saw some pics of the car - if only to remind me of how I should have been bolder in my original colour choice!

Just picked up this thread a bit late, Coke is a fluid, and gravity is a cruel and persisant force. Over time, one has to consider which way up the coke bottle looks best!
Seems to me that the Avatar is the only way to answer this.
