Is anybody in the USA able to watch a DVD while parked??? I just put in a DVD in the DVD slot (where the navigation dvd goes) and I couldn't get it to play.
I'm wondering if my car is even able to watch a DVD at all, much less at speed! OR... in order to watch a DVD thru the screen you need to hook up an additional DVD player? Where are these additional inputs located? Car is a 09 S5 with everything.

You cant use the Nav DVD on 2G systems to play on the tv screen. That option is with 3g.

Install a DVD player and connect it to one of the two Aux inputs.

These cover fitting TV module and video aux-in for MMI 2G which your car has:
Notes on retrofitting TV module Audi A6/Q7/A8 http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a6tvmodule.html Hybrid TV module installation Audi A6/A4 B8/A5 (relevant for Q7/A8 too) http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/article...5hybridtv.html In MMI 2G you can not watch DVDs with the navigation drive, as was said. If your car already has Audi factory TV feature, then adding the video aux-in is easy. If not, you need to add the TV module to add the aux-ins for video (to which then connect any aftermarket DVD car player with video/audio out). If your car does not have parking camera in the rear, then you also need to add FBAS (video in) capable MMI head unit to the front of car. All this is explained in the links above.

WELP. Scratch this whole idea... if I knew all of this, I would have never even thought about this in the first place. Darn.

Definitely works in my S5. As I was telling someone else, I haven't really needed to have it play for my passengers while on a long drive but I confirmed it does work at speed.

I've heard messing with VIM can screw up the whole MMI...or even kill it completely. Is this true?

That's impossible if you do it exactly as described.
